so the high point of my day was buying new underwear at Walmart. It's 108 degrees out there, not too bad. I'm so bored and isolated, I ironed my money (just the paper money) before I left the house just to have something to do. Now I'm back home - did self-service check out everywhere, so haven't actually spoken to a living person today and no prospects tonight.
I'm making some chile verde. I have been experimenting with it as I love the flavor and I had a good start with a recipe from Sunset magazine. But it was too salty, using bottled green chile salsa and chicken broth. So I decided to do it from scratch, roasted the chiles and tomatillos, browned the pork, sauteed some onions, green pepper and garlic. Put it all together in the soup pot with some cilantro, oregano, cumin and coriander. I'm still using chicken broth, but diluting it with water. I like the pork (or chicken) chile verde with corn tortillas or hominy, but today just for the hell of it, I'm going to make spelt biscuits and cook them on top of the soup like dumplings. Sort of southern health food store chile verde, eh?
I've been trying to sell my business, have had lots of interest but everyone backs out. I have a new offer, having lunch with these guys Monday to talk about it. I really hope they buy it. However, I intend to close it anyway at the end of the year, if no one buys it.
