I will share an east coast near secret. There is a place in NC where the water is often almost as clear as the Keys.....not only that but there are huge live conchs everywhere...yum! The anchorage is well protected, but the bay is large enough for for great sailing and fishing. It sits between two Islands with two more very close by. The sand is insanely white, and if this is not enought there a wild ponies roaming all over two of the Islands!!!....Shakleford Banks, and Carrot Island just off Beaufort. They actually roam out into the water to eat wet sea grass!!! (talk about a photo op)

Carrot island is so close to the main town docks that you can rent a kayak and just paddle on over....maybe three hundred yards away. The incredible clear water area with the conch is inside the hook at Cape Lookout...........paradise....there is actually a white brick lightkeepers house that you volunteer to stay at for three months stints, and help care for the Island, and the turtles. I am always amazed at how uncrowded this place is.......for beach, boat, fishing, and lighthouse lovers..........you just about can't beat this place........it is worth a google.................oompa....

The history of Beaufort, with its ancient graveyards and homes is awesome too

Hey....I've been there! My grandfather use to take us shelling on Shakleford....we just had a small motor boat, but it was an exciting trip for a kid cruising across the bay through the big water.

JK.....that is flat scarey. I'll be packing a decent suit for you!!!

I spend most of my time out (sailing that is) in the Chesapeake Bay... between Va and MD. I love it. Infact, I actually enjoy the work too.

I've met some folks who spend months on end cruising. Arrrh. That's the life for me.

Supposedly my 30' boat sleeps six, or me and a lady friend.

Hey Priest....I use to live in Norfork, VA....learned to swim in the Chesapeake Bay, I think I was about 2. I think sailing for two would be perfect. That's the life for me too. Just a dream for today, however.

I'm ok with three people sailing as long a one of them is me, and two of them are strippers.

Oompa, you're welcome to come up for a sail anytime!

Priest.....pretty sure you will have a sailing buddy in oompa if you keep talking like that.....just sit right back and you'll hear a tale....there were two babes in that one. Hope I didn't start something that will get you two in trouble.

Come to think of it, I can cook....can I come along? Trouble sounds good to me today. I have some good looking daughters I could bring.

I have a 17-foot Clackacraft drift boat. No potty, no beds, no motor, no sails, just oars. Salmon steelhead, & trout fear it, however.

Really just meat & potatoes, but it does an excellent job of what it was designed to do-float rivers & catch fish.

I guess on the fantasy boat trip, I could handle the fish catchin' part.

low-key I had a river dory once.....lived right on the roaring fork in Colorado. Use to sit in the deck and toast the rafters floating by on weekends.

    Honesty....very nice to meet you.....!!!!
