  Not so long ago a visiting speaker at my wife's Hall gave a catagoric assurance that "they have found Noahs Ark, from satellite photos." Global warming having melted a lot of the residual snow and ice.

  I tackled him afterwards and he said that he read it on the internet...At that I adopted my most pompous Dubby attitude and reminded him that The Society always counsel caution in using additional material and tht he needed to show the source of it. As far as I knew, the claims by some were unsubstantiated.

  He would not have it though. he insisted was real...If I had still been involved with the congo I would have told the elders to complain to his home cong..but I just thought it to be funny. You're right though, nobody else batted an eyelid.

  BTW , I have heard the "counselling" story over here as well.

  I remember listening to talks like that, reading that s**t in the magazines and in the book study or hearing those "upbuilding experiences" while out in "service," and ultimately, it was the cumulative load of B.S. that was one of the main motivating factors in getting me out. I hope they keep using the urban legends and internet rumors - the more ridiculous their claims the more people will begin to wake up. And those that don't, well, at a certain point it becomes deliberate blind ignorance IMHO.

  BB - What do you mean? They didn't find the ark? Yes they did! I read it in Enquire!

  Yah LOL the national enquirer has the first photos of the ark on top of mount ararat .They might as well use crap like that as research material since most of the stuff the tower has printed is just as fictional and far fetched .

  That's awesome. I used to fantasize often about going up to some arrogant, smug, dickhead public speaker after the meeting, including the CO, and correcting and counselling them like you did.
