Sheez, I remember rebuilding that hall JW facts. As I recall, the guy who did it was a disgruntled husband, who had a bit of explosive knowledge from the Vietnam war. On the other hand, that could be witness legend too.
After Kingdom Hall bomb blast = Twisted Witness logic! Saved by Jah!

They can turn everything into a victory for them. I remember an example like this in a book. There were 5 cubes and only 1 was to be chosen. The man said pick 3..if one of the 3 was the chosen one he took the other 2 away. If it wasn't he would state those 3 had been chosen to be discarded. Then from the 3 he said pick 1..if it was the 1 then that was marked the final choice, if it wasnt the one that one was discarded and then he said pick 1 (of the 2). Again if the chosen one was picked it was final, if it wasnt then the pick was a "discard". The illusion of free choice / chance but in reality the man totally controlled it. As with the watchtower, if no one dies then jah saved them, if only one person dies then jah still saves them.

The gossip has always been that the bomber was the husband of a woman in the hall, but there was never enough evidence against him. That's just the gossip. For the most part, the talk has always been: "Hooray, persecution: Armageddon must be close!"

This story gave me one of my first hints of doubt, I remember. 'How could this happen in a place of worship?'. I knew that JWs weren't spared 'time and consequence', but still - in the Kingdom Hall?? When similar things happened to other religions, there were sometimes snide remarks that their god couldn't save them even in their place of worship, and now it happened to us? Why did 'God's people today' not have any 'perks' at all? No miracles, no personal revelations, no nothing. I was told it was because miracles had ceased post-apostles (how convenient!), and that if we had those things, people would convert based on that, and not on faith in the Truthâ„¢. Curious then, how in times of old, god's people allegedly had all those things in abundance and people didn't convert because of it, but now, in an age of reason and skepticism, there were no miracles, only excuses.
Made me think.

Was Graham in the front row executed by God? Did he have a secret sin? Typical JW logic, or lack thereof!

I heard platforms are now made from solid concrete due to this incident.

I remember when that happened. I was 12 years old at the time. I also remember all the apostates coming out and the reaction they got. Ray Martin, as I re-call was rather brutal on them, he had quite a few on his 'Midday Show' and he tore strips off of them. I remember my mum bragging about it.
I heard platforms are now made from solid concrete due to this incident.
The hall I was in at the time held a quick build the following year and yes, a solid concrete platform was installed in case anyone tried the same thing there.

Brothers and Sisters were all looking up scriptures at the time so all the bibles found were open to the same page, so their eye's were saved, by looking down. {I often don't look up all texts!}
So the blast was strong enough to hurl a piano though the air and blow off people's body parts, yet all the pages of their Bibles were found open to the same page? Must be a miracle! What a good witness for Jehovah to preserve their places in the text they were reading. We wouldn't want a pesky little bomb blast to distract us from paying attention to Jehovah's word now, would we?

Lessons Learned
Be sure to sit behind the really big guy.
1. The Brother who died was large and sat in front saving many lives by taking the full impact. {too bad for him though!}
Well how big was he? Did he take up several seats?
