welcome from a collegue. I escaped the borg and got my degree in zoology so have taken the opportunity to read a lot of what you probably have,,, clear back to Watson and Crick. I've come to a different conclusion than you but that's cool. some of my best friends are former athiests and present ones as well. I admire your compassion for your parents. If you percieve leaving the Tower would be be devistating to them and you are willing to sacrifice for their behalf, I commend you. be well carmel

Welcome. Look forward to hearing more.
I find two things in your post odd.
1- At 38, you are willing to set aside life in order for your Dad to 'reach out' as an elder, at what? 60?
No - I guess I find that the one odd thing. Don't worry. Even in a small town, at 38 and living separate from your parents, your life choices should not affect his being an elder. You clearly love your parents. Perhaps, under the surface, you are more worried about being DF'd for the affects it would have on your ability to stay close to them? The relationship would indeed be affected if that happened. But if you left the religion, your Dad could still attain his goal IMO.
