I never got my ass dragged into "the spanking room". I usually just got hit in my seat, or was dragged into the coat room. It also didn't help that the second school was in the basement (in our old hall) and that my mother didn't want to drag me into the women's washroom.
If I had to choose which one looks better, I think #2 does. -

When your parenting skills suck... just beat them. When you just don't have the patience to explain... beat them.
When they've been sitting in an assembly for 6 hours, it's hot, and they can't sit still.... just beat them. Oh, and go out for dinner after the assembly so they have to sit some more too - and beat them.
