I am a big DMB fan also. Was suppose to catch them Jun 14th at Hartford but had to sell the tickets because my sons band was asked to play at a party and we were also invited.(bummer).
Anyway the way you expressed yourself to your mom sounded of someone who has lost the guilt and just speaks the truth. If you deal with her and your dad with love and kindness they will have a wonderful visit and of course be wanting more..I wish you a wonderful and peaceful visit with them..

They hate it when you are ok with them not speaking to you or "cutting you off". This is when my parents try harder to have some contact with me. They want us to be upset and unable to get on with our lives because we "left jehoobie", you know it's for our own good so that we see our wrong ways and change .
I love to see my mom squirm when she does try to talk JW crap to me and I completely tune her out and continuously change the subject, drives her mad!

Ex-nj-jw, I think I know what you mean, not that I've had the opportunity for such an experience yet myself. If you think about it, what is the primary motivation for whatever sanctions they enforce upon us? They deeply hope they'll force us to become JWs again by withdrawing from us. Like a mate, giving their spouse "the silent treatment" until they get what they want. They're frequently hearing convention and magazine experiences of formerly DFd ones who've returned, saying things like, "How loving our great organization is for shunning the puke out of us!!!" Kinda reminds me of something I once wrote...

Good luck Jon! I just found out my parents are spending their vacaton with my born again apostate brother. They'll have a meal wth him and hang out with him, but I've been warned to stay away and not visit, I will not be allowed in the door. My parents are fucking hypocrites.

Confession, You may not be seeking my input, but forgive me if my comments are unwelcome. I hope your relationship improves with your parents, but I would prepare myself to deal with the worst you can imagine. I say that because if you do that anything less than that you can deal with since you've prepared for something beyond that. We often anticipate the worst but fail to thoroughly prepare psychologicaly for it. I sincerely desire for you to be pleasantly surprised. carmel
