I am surprised there is no thread yet. Tonight's the night. I guess Greece will be the winner. Unfortunately, no chance for Germany. [Crumpet, I bet you are watching, too.] ;-)

Had a listen to a few of the songs, there's some pretty good ones and I think it could be close - just depends on how much political voting gets in the way lol!
Eurovision certainly seems to have improved on its traditional image!

I've read that Russia and Sweden are the big favorites. I particularly like France's entry which caused quite some contention because it's sung in English
Unfortunately, Belgium didn't get into the finals for the fifth consecutive team

The Belgium entry sounded a little annoying to me.
But Ireland did not make it either:

Yes, Western Europe isn't as tight a team as the Slavic and Scandinavian countries. Besides Ireland and Belgium, also Andorra and the Netherlands couldn't pass the preselections. I doubt Germany or even the UK would have passed if they had to go through the semi-finals.
Btw, what do you think about Spain's entry? I think it's terribly annoying. It's remarkable Spain is one of the only countries left that didn't submit an English song.

The Spanish song is bad I posted a link to it above for any who dare watch it. I think the UK song is good infact too good for the likes of Eurovision so I fully expect it to fail.

The UK entry couldn't charm me though. Imo, this song is way too ordinary for Eurovision.

Oh yes so I see:I disagree on your choice peppermint - that isn't actually too bad - not a winner though!
However, check out Latvia - now that's what I call Eurovisionesque!
I see Georgia has the 'world peace protest' entry this year.
I think the UK entry is good but like hamilcarr says, too tame. If the first few bars don't grab the audience, it's not a winner.

Do you remember when ABBA won the contest with "Waterloo?"
Who else has won since then?
