Old assholes are just young assholes who by some miracle weren't killed by anybody when they were younger. Respect is earned, not given. Someone who behaves like an ass doesn't deserve any respect.

Free to be..not all of us old timers are unhappy..and often as not we are tired of being screwed by some young whipersnapper that is too lazy to do his job right...

I have and am happy to be where I am..my future is secure and have little or no worries. When we were young we were always worried about the kids..bills..what others said..now it is great..

I can go where I want when I want..pretty much do as I want..and I have earned the right to finally speak my piece!... Something a youngster wouldn't want to do for fear of not being popular..

I can look at it from both sides now..I can speak up when I think an injustice is being done and I can keep quiet when something is being discussed that isn't any of my business..

    Snoozy...Free-to-be. me!

Did I see a little age discrimination in the original post.. Like young people never do things like that?

I was caring for my mother from when she was 80 to 85 and she made many hurtful comments on various things. I had to jump on her when she made comments in public that other people could hear and told her that she was acting shamefully and I was embarrassed to be her daughter. She shut up and didn't do it in public anymore but at home she still would do it occasionally. I told her she was just an obnoxious teenager who has no consideration for how she could hurt other people by her thoughtless comments.

Some old people are like a teenager in a wrinkled body is so right on.

Snoozy: then you are reading into that. I wasn't being discriminatory. Is calling the fat lady fat discriminatory? The one being hurtful was an old lady. The one been made fun of was fat. Those are the descriptive facts. Some feel that just because you're old you can say what you please simply because you're old and have somehow 'earned' that right. Bollocks!

Take heart, dear LouBelle. Someday this old lady will run into a fat girl like me who will be more than happy to show her what a fat girl can do!

Some will say it's also rude to correct your elders. Here's my take--I trust and respect someone a lot more who says what's on their mind, good or bad.

Oh well then, let me tell you what's on my mind. I think you like to make rude comments about women and other groups on this forum, just to get attention!

Old people can be rude, bigoted bullies just as young people can. Why should they get a free pass and not be "corrected".
