A bicycle doesn't have that problem. It can pedal right past gas prices, no matter how high they go.
One little problem with that: I don't know how to ride a bike. You can't ride a bike in sand, hence I never learned how.

Good idea. With all the money I'd save on gas I can buy a nice spandex outfit. All the female cyclists will positively drool over me!

If only the commute in metro Atlanta was short enough to allow bicycle commutes! Unfortunately, I can't see myself making the 35 mile commute one way every day on a bicycle. I've got the next best thing, though. My 1995 Toyota Corolla gets 38 miles to the gallon. It still costs me $40.00 to fill up. That sucks.
I ran out of gas before I could get to the filling station.
However, my gifted 19-year old came to the rescue.
