: I knew Arthur Worsley. an interesting guy.
Arthur used to special pioneer in the islands using one of the society's two yachts as I recall. Barbara Anderson also knew him. She said he used to work the night desk in Bethel and remembers when Nathan and Audrey Knorr and other big wigs would return in their tuxedos and fine gowns after spending the evening in expensive restaurants or at plays, laughing and smelling of booze. It bothered him, knowing that the average Bethel worker bee could never afford such extravaganzas.
As did Rutherford, Nathan Knorr always travelled first class, and often bought two seats. He would put his briefcase on the other vacant seat. Someone speculated he did this because he became very uncomfortable when travelling and people would ask him what he did for a living.
I believe Knorr lived on a 7th floor and had a fantastic view of the City. His quarters were also air conditioned and he had a full kitchen and full-time personal chef.
What a freakin' hypocrite.
I don't know for a fact, but wouldn't be the least bit surprised if all the GB members continue with tradition and travel and lodge first class wherever they go.
Seeker4,
Yes, Olin Moyle did sue and won a $25,000 slander settlement against the WTS. They fought it for years, though and finally got it reduced to $15,000 when they paid it. Olin Moyle was dead by then.
