Rome was especially ruthless

What can I say, Farkel, you have your mind made up. So you think God is a "fuckhead" ... what else is new?

I'll ask you the same question that I did Skeptic:

Why is it that you automatically condemn God for bringing about the destructive forces of Armageddon when you don’t even clearly understand the issue? And if you think you do understand the issue, I’ll be quite for a moment and allow you to explain it to me. What is the issue, if you can tell me?

    Yadirf says:

They merely lived by the principles which Jesus and his apostles taught ... such as "you must love your neighbor as yourself", and that they should "be no part of the world" in imitation of Jesus himself.

    Joelbear says:

If I ever find a group that really does this, I would definitely consider joining them.

    Joelbear asks:

How come all those hundreds of thousands of Christians that died at the hand of the ruthless Romans for their faith in Jesus were not included in the first fruits of God and put in the 144,000? Certainly that would have filled up the little flock with truly faithful ones.

because he will make an extermination, indeed a terrible one, of all the inhabitants of the earth."

This seems to be in contradiction to a belief that God will preserve some inhabitants of the earth.

    Hiya Yadirf,

You canot be serious! You really are astonished at the persecutions of the Christians?? How about all the folks who suffered horrible deaths at the hands of "God's people" the Israelites? Just have a look at the bible and do some body counts. There you will find far worse than anything Rome ever did.

Then of course we have cults like the WT where the members get whipped into a frenzy at the thought of the horrible deaths that 99.9% humankind will suffer.

No wonder agnositicism is "beyond you". Apparently many things are.

    Julie,

You have to remember. You can be as mean as you want to people God doesn't like. They are excluded from the love your neighbor thingy.

If I had a choice of either dying at the hand of men or dying at the hand of God, I'd choose the former.

So would I, Yadirf. Your god is evil and unlikely to show any mercy.

    Ok Yadirf,

Would you please tell us why it was ok for god to kill all those children living at the time of the flood. Why was it ok for all women and children to die just because they happened to live in the "promised land". If god was really concerned about how horrible their worship was then why didn't he exterminate all the other religions of the earth?

What would you think of a military leader today who told his army to invade a city or country (such as Afganistan) and kill every man woman and child? I think that every person on the face of the earth would call for his execution. What do you think we should do with GOD?
