1993 the ATF storm the Waco compound and David Koresh and 82 followers burned to death. To them the attack was the begining of Armagedon, and the furfillment of prophecy. The more the ATF pushed, the more they thought they were God's people, who were being persecuted, and pushed into the apocalypse. Even those who made it out of the fire believe David was Jesus second coming....today a small group and chappel is still at Waco.

Makes me wonder if Bethel was invaded by the ATF for some reason, real or not, what would they think. Would Brothers be waving brooms at "the beast." Would there be mass panic. Hiding literature, running in terror. Would the Governing Body be taken to a secret basement? Elders eating their black address books.

ATF........."Oppps sorry folks....the building is NEXT DOOR, not here...come on fella's.

    Same situation different cult.

i think the legal department and whoever else is running the business these days knows that the threat of it happening is just a control factor for the rank and file. If the ATF came knocking it would be a great exercise in promoting the persecution factor and a great boost on the productivity and coffers.

if 'armagonnagettum' ever came i think they would be every bit as surprised as anyone else.

Hopefully those in charge over there have now learned how to approach groups with this type of profile.

If the ATF stormed Patterson or Crooklyn.......most would remain passive (a few would be put down quickly by the trained officers). The boys at the top would be alerted & would leave by whatever means they have pre-planned or spin it as another "Rutherford Railroading". Accounts would be shifted, lawyers would fully step out and take care of the business. JWs around the world would lament it as proof of end times. ...

The GB would spin it forever !!!!! but would also take up suit against the US Government.

Even if nothing happened Witnesses would use this as a propaganda tool....the "tribulation" has began.

    They spin everything...

good things happen = Jehovah is blessing the bOrg... the end is near.

bad things happen = Satan is persecuting them... the end is near.

Also, they still have the Great tribulation card to play, with a very nebulous time frame. Even if something catastrophic happened at headquarters, it would be portrayed as the "begining of the Great Tribulation". And they could milk that for many years.

Bethel makes sure that anyone not taking the coolaid (refusing blood transfusions) is expelled.

I don't think they would do anything rash. They have a strong sense of self-preservation.

I also wonder if some of them would be secretly surprised.

I am somehow more reminded of the Malawi registration card persecutions of the 1960s.

If that government had been just a little more hardline - so as to imprison them and kill them like the Nazis did before, those witnesses would almost certainly have all died. And many of us were told to write letters which actually fanned the flames of persecution.

For a stinking stupid cardboard card not very different from your social security card or driver's license.
