What Things Used To Bother Your Conscience?

I never figured out why some JWs ALWAYS seemed to have a troubled conscience. Everything bothered them and of course you were supposed to kiss their asses because you could "stumble" them.

Isn't THAT the truth! It took years to figure out whatever issue I had with another person had nothing really to do with them. It was really my issue. So with alllllllllll those nazi brothers going crazy over skirt lengths and sleevless dresses end up DF'd for the very thing they accused everybody else of doing. I was no angel as a witness, but at the same time I was a productive and responsible congregation "publisher" ; I somehow balanced it in my mind. I somehow knew it really was my life not theirs, and there are some things you just must do as part of the human experience.

So I'm not inclined to believe anyone who uses "always" or "never" to describe himself. In fact, my experience tells me that those who rely on absolutes to describe themselves are desperately attempting to convince themselves of something that's very likely untrue; but because they've "said so" for such a long : Carlos
I have always cared about people not wanting to "stumble them ".

In my statement I should more accurately have said.... "it has been of much concern to care about people !

But the whole point of this thread is speaking if things that bothered ones conscience (the gap between knowing and doing )

No problem, Caliber. I appreciated the honesty of your response. It was the one immediately after your's that got my attention.

Ok I will tell you but don't laugh.

I used to wear Bongo jeans. The button on these jeans had zodiac symbols on it. So with a pair of pliers I removed the button and replaced it with a generic non offensive one purchased at the fabric store.

    That and blow jobs.

    Neither bother my conscience now.

I recall many a sleepless night when returning from assemblies and having disregarded the One Towel Rule.

MINIMUS- What bothered my conscience was seeing unjust treatment of rank and file members of the congregation by elders who had NO conscience about hurting others. Still bothers me to some extent how the elders are looked up to as God himself. Peace out, Mr.Flipper

Gum wrappers. Once a brother gave a talk about how Jehovah is watching us and we're to be exemplary and if we drive down the road and throw a gum wrapper out the car window it would be worse than if a wordly person committed murder because they're held to a lower standard.

Yep. Going to hell if I throw a gum wrapper out the car window.
