It makes you wanna look at them with big eyes and say "Boo!"

I don't allow it....period. A JW couple well-known to me out with another couple (unknown) at the Outback Restaurant attempted the shunning thing with me.

(I've never da'd nor been df'd, but I've been inactive and contradictory for many years.) I sat at the booth directly across from them and I KNOW they saw me and

my hubby. I let the meal progress and end, then when they stood up to leave and stood directly to the side of where I was sitting, I looked up and said, "Well,

hello, _______. How are you doing.? I saw you when I walked in but didn't want to interupt your dinner. How have you been?" I said it with a big contented confident air,

and although her hubby walked away, she was forced to acknowledge me. I just don't acknowledge the shunning thing at all anymore, and go out of my way to say

"hello" and make them talk to me. I'm always very nice and friendly, however.

I was preemptively reverse shunned at a store once...

I saw a guy I hadn't seen for several years, so I walked up to him to say hello. As I approached, he looked at me with a blank, lifeless stare, and in a really sad tone said, "Sorry, I cannot talk to you, I'm disfellowshipped."

    It was very awkward.

I do what JO does. When I see a witness duck into a different aisle, I just walk up to them and say "hello". The burden is on them. They chose to be rude, I do not.

    That's amazingly funny.

The stupidest shunning I ever experienced was after I was DF'd but my wife was still in at the time. A sister would call the house and when I would answer she would say "hello?...hello...?" I would say "hello can you hear me?" she would say "Hazel? (my wifes name)...Hazel?" I would say "no...this is Greg...do you want to speak to Hazel?" she would reply "Hazel?...Hazel?..."

This happened twice and the second time I told my wife to tell her not to call again or I would go over to their house and have a face to face with her and her weasel MS husband. By the way they are both out of the org last we heard.

Last Sunday my fiance and I were in a supermarket checkout line and just ahead of us was a JW elder that I had served with when I was a elder. As far as I know I'm not DFd, but most JWs from my old congregation treat me as such because I haven't attended meetings in over 20 years. This guy got very nervous when he saw us. By the way my fiance is Russian Orthodox and was never a JW. Since there were lots of people around the JW couldn't ignore me without appearing rude. So I said hi and he nervously said hi. I introduced him to my fiance and as soon as he got his change from the checker he bolted out of the store. My fiance, who doesn't know much about JW practices, said the guy looked very unhappy like he lived a miserable life. She also wondered why he seemed to be afraid of me. After I explained the JW shunning practices, she said it sounds like a very stupid religion.

even when i was in and a ms in good standing there was always 2 or 3 that would never talk to me for no reason.it was usually an elders wife.i can see that some like this religion because you have an opportunity to feel superior to others.
