I wonder if the WTS will actually just shake off the not-totally-obedient
members in an all-out campaign that the end is near.

If they can hold out long enough to destroy the college opportunities for
a whole up-and-coming generation of JW kids, and allow the weak dubs
to get fed up and leave, then the new smaller organization can sell off
Kingdom Halls & Assembly Halls and sell the presses and send information
across the internet. All those sales ought to keep the GB and the
Wallkill/Patterson compounds comfortable for decades.

Hey, I can dream. I hope they do such a campaign.

However I think that there will be a net gain by the upcoming "the sky is falling" hysteria
which will only lead to disappointment in 5 years as once again the flock read too
much into what the Society actually said.

Yes. The 1975 hysteria paid for the new printing presses back then. The total
growth outweighed the loss in the subsequent years. I could see them think it would
work again. It won't though. They will only see a decent growth among the inactive
fence-sitters and a handful of literature students. The vast majorities will see the
hype as just that. Still, it could be what they want. Very zealous smaller army of
faithful drones.

Don't forget the other reason for the college ban...more dubs with trade skills like plumbers, carpenters, bricklayers etc. Now what possible use could they have for all those folks?!

What drives me nuts, is that the die hards just keep going along with the ' just around the corner thing'. It's like they have no memory at all. The boy who cried wolf was thinking of humor, the society is thinking of money. When people realize they are being had, the humor and money dries up. I love the way the poster handled it, it sure brought the wife to her senses.

The get ready for the end part reminds of an old joke that was actually printed out to appear as an actual warning for what to do in case of an atomic explosion, when I was a kid. It went through a long list of things you needed to do and at the end it said , then climb under a table, desk , etc, place your head between you legs and then kiss you *** goodbye.

As someone said above isn't it the point that every JW should always be ready for the Great Tribulation.

The thing is they have to keep saying it more and more nowadays.

Because they never thought they would still be here this long.

Another 6 years and it will be 100 years since Christ came in 1914.

Will they target that year ? As a possible time.

Does the WT know that as 2014 approaches that its members will be expecting something.

Then when nothing happens. Is it their fear that members will start to drop off as another date falls by the wayside.

The older generation of JWs are getting weary and dying off.

The younger generation are getting less and less because they are leaving. Even the very young generation are now deciding that they do not want to be JWs.

Yes the Great Tribulation is coming. But it could just be for the Watchtower organisation.
