Do the JW's really and truly believe that the end is near?

    The end is close.

    The end is getting closer.

And the end will never actually get here.

How can this be true? Oddly, all three can be true simultaneously. You can have a graph where two functions are graphed that are very close, and infinitely getting closer. However, they will never intersect. Anyone that has had ninth grade algebra and did a C- job or better should understand that.

I wonder if that is another reason why they want people to blow off math.

And I would also add that, if people believed that the end was actually coming in a finite period and they were so close, then why is it that the waitresses at Starbucks seem to be getting stuck with all the wastes of paper, while 85-90% of those in the field are not getting their wastes of paper?

I remember Armageddon was always just a couple of years down the road, no matter how many years passed.

A brother I know uses every opportunity to publicly speculate that armageddon is coming this year. Yet he talks privately about his savings accounts and how much money he has saved up for the future.

If a jw is having hard times then they believe the end is near or at least hope it is near. If they are having good times they could care less.

A brother I used to know, actually an elder in the south Texas congregation I attended, went to a great deal of planning and expense to build a custom house, not just a house but a DOME-shaped house. He did this back in the late '70s or early '80s, apparantly thinking he was going to live in that house a long time. As it turns out, he did!

He and his wife also had a beautiful daughter who, of course, would "never finish school", who, as it turns out, probably has by now.

Oh, how those were praise from the podium whose faith moved them to sell all their belonging and preach, preach, preach as '75 approached! It's funny how fast that these ones who were "full of faith" quickly were labled "weak in faith" when the reality of no New System, no possessions, no job, no home, hit many of those poor disillustioned souls!

I was in my teens, still studying, not yet baptised when 1976 rolled around. My teacher emphesized over and over how the WTS never came right out and said that the New System would arrive by then. (Although, they couldn't have suggested it any stronger!) Her faith didn't seem to be shaken, so mine wasn't either. But no one else in my family took up the religion. (I guess they weren't as gullible as I was.)

There are better ways to market the message, but the GB doesn't give a f!*k

    Hardcore JWs do,

The reason there is no panic or no effort to change anything or "prepare for disaster" is because they believe "Jah will take care of them." Well, in a sense they are right. The WTS "paradise" is right in line with the UN "utopia" plan. The JWs will be gently guided to fall in line with it. WTS, as well as ALL of christendom are NGO's. As such, they are pledged to uphold the idealistic one world unity to bring about a "sustainable peace and security". The first order of business is "religious neutrality". This has already been taking place in christian churches. Very soon, the JWs will give up the door to door. The NGO agreements require that there be religious neutrality in the "public square". Which means no more prostelytizing. Every religion will tell their flock that "baptism has sealed them" into the Kingdom. They will emphasize that this is their "mark". This is a lie. However, the purpose is to alleviate any anxiety about taking the chip ("mark of the beast"). They will tell you that the chip is rendering to Caesar and we are in the digital age, after all. By reinforcing the idea that baptism is "mark of Kingdom membership" the JWs will not think twice about taking the digital chip to participate in their new society. It will give them another distinction of "belonging to the Kingdom" because they are accepted in the new society once they have the mark.
