Anyone keep their kids from playing sports because of the Borg?

When my son was 8 years old they had a T-ball league in the summer at the nearby park. because of the Borg training we told him he couldn't play T-ball.

That kind of thinking just carried on throughout his life from junior high through high school. He would have be good in sports but instead had to forget about any organized sports. It makes me sick to think about how much he missed because of our beliefs.

I didn't get to play 'organized' sports except when visiting my dad (his whole family is very sports oriented, full scholarships and all)

SO not in a million years would I keep my kids from trying different sports they fancy.

My kids play soccer, cheerleading, gymnastics, softball, t-ball, wee-pee-wee football for 'organized play' at varies times during the year . Living near the HS they also dabble in swimming, volleyball, track and long jump with other local 'worldly' & JW kids.

Hubby takes them to jr. fishing tournaments, & shooting events. Being at the lake you kinda earn a masters in all types of water sports by 15.

I take that back.....I am against free climbing at heights above 8ft

I was so pissed growing up I couldn't do any sports!

After I left, and moved to my real dad's......went to college after high school....I made the college cheerleading squad!!

Talk about pissed off parents (mom and stepdaddy dearest)!! And I loved every minute of it!

My daughter and husband, both JW's, are coaches. Both play softball and the kids play t-ball, baseball, basketball and one goes to dancing. I'm not sure how the borg feel's about it today, his parents are Jw's, one a pioneer and he is and elder. They never go watch any of the kids games nor do they go to the dance recital. My kid's don't think that's extreme??? What's the deal, are my kid's breaking the rules or is it allowed today?

Just another way the WTO ruins kids. It's sad.

It sucks that we were not allowed to be a part organized sports, or anything social in school.

I want my kids to be able to play whatever sport, or immerse themselves in whatever hobby they choose.

I left when my oldest son was a little over a year old. I made a point of putting him in every sport known to man. As it turns out he is not an athletic kid...: ) Don't feel so bad, it's never too late to start, and once you expose your kids you find out what their true talents and passions are, I have one athletic kid and one intellectual. So I put them both in things they enjoy.

I know what you mean though, I was raised JW and I did not have an enjoyable childhood....

That's one thing that's good about going in as an adult. I got to participate in the math competition, which I am sure the Washtowel Slaveholdery would have not allowed me to had I been a witless while in school.

My mother kept me from gymnastics because of the Borg when I was a kid. I loved gymnastics, but was never able to take any lessons/classes. However, I was allowed to participate in a few things in High School (like the National Honor Society), but no sports. My mother didn't even want me to do NHS and held me off for a year, but she eventually gave in.

When my daughter was 2, I put her in gymnastics. When she was 3, she was put in tap and ballet (she didn't like gymnastics as much as I did lol). I'm not going to hold her back in any extra-curricular activities. :)
