I dont think words could cover it......

No. *Sigh* My first car was a 1986 Pontiac T/A. Two tone. Navy blue above and silver below.

Punching it at the light and racing other kids...

I first smooched with my wife in it.

    Memories.

:Does this explain the different attitudes toward cars on each continent?

:For Europeans cars are more of a means of transporation whereas for Americans they are deeply cultural and almost a way of life ...

hillbilly almost nailed it when he asked if you ever hole-shot a muscle car. The only other thing he left out was the American men have itty bitty penises and can forget that particular problem when they have 425 horsepower, 400 ft. pounds of torque and a 12 1/2 second quarter mile. And that's just going to the nearest convenience store!

Mini coopers, Morris Minors and everything British Leyland/Lucas would not turn anyone into a car lover in this or any other lifetime!

It's got a cop motor, a 440 cubic inch plant, it's got cop tires, cop suspensions, cop shocks. It's a model made before catalytic converters so it'll run good on regular gas. What do you say, is it the new Bluesmobile or what? -Elwood Blues

The Morris Minor has never inspired this kind of endorsment.

    hillb,

:If someones says "Oldsmobile" does the phrase "442" .....

My best friend (not a dub) in high school had a 1965 442 and we raced it every friday and saturday night on the street. Gawd, I loved that car: simple, clean and FAST. It turned in the low-mid 13's. Four barrel carburetor, four on the floor and dual exhaust = 442.

Another friend who WAS a dub bought a 1951 Morris sedan. The 4 doors were about 2 feet wide each! We ripped out the dash and firewall and front seats, extended the steering wheel so it could reach the back seat and then stuffed a Bonneville 389 under the hood. Never could get the suspension right. The Morris suspension was designed to only carry the weight of one of those motors you get with an Erector Set.

Yeah, Bond has his Aston-Martin and that's about as far as the British go in romanticizing the automobile.

We merry cans have Michael Knight and Kitt (sp?), a person-car relationship that is so cheesy beyond cheesy that it could only happen here LOL

Cars that I have owned: Lancia Fulvia, Lotus Elan, Mercedes 300SL, Lancia Thema, Nissan Maxima, Lancia Beta, various Honda Prelude's.

Cars that I have cared about very much: Nil.

I guess that when the testosterone was being handed out, I was at the tail end of the line. ;)
