I would consider any being, no matter how powerful, no matter how all knowing, to be an evil monster, if he chose to burn people to death that he deems to be wickid.

Oh, so you know more than Jehovah do you? You really think there can be a peaceful coexistence between beastly men and Jehovahs righteously enthroned KING who will dash to pieces all wicked ppl not in favor of his rule?Just like all the beastly world powers that will be hurled into the lake of fire signifying their death so also Jehovah burned to death wicked people. Does this make him a monster? It makes him a monster to those wicked ppl doesnt it? If your not a beastly wicked person then you have nothing to worry about do you?

In todays world courts sentence ppl to death all the time. Courts sentence ppl to burn to death in the electric chair. Courts have sentenced ppl to die since God gave humans governments time to rule until HE steps in and will be the ULTIMATE court.

So if you are upset that God has burned ppl to death in the past for acting wickedly then you need to adjust your thinking.God is looking for ppl to make an uncompromising stand for universal sovereignty. The Nazis who burned ppl whom they thought were underserving of life were themselves wicked and deserving of death. So true God smelts those claiming to be his people in order to expose and skim away those who are scummy dross and to keep those precious to him those who are sincere and not wicked.

    (Yeah thats my JW response..hehehe)

"Atheist have a clear, definite answer: Yes, it is always wrong to burn people to death, no matter what the circumstances."

I think the issue is not whether one is an atheist, but whether one is a pacifist (whether Christian or atheist).

What about the military's use of weapons that kill by burning, such as napalm?

Yeah, I actually thought of that after I made the thread. The only argument I can offer is that napalm is not the only way to wage warfare. So it's still possible to say that war is acceptable when necessary for the purposes of national defense etc etc, but burning people to death is not acceptable.

Oh, and to the other person who said something to the effect of me trying to "deconvert" people:

On the weekends, I go around trying to convert atheists to christianity.
On the weekdays, I post on the internet trying to convert christians to atheists.
I figure it all balances out in the end.

(that was said tongue-in-cheek btw. I'm using Firefox 3.0 and I don't have a new IE tab for it yet so I can't get smileys or format my post properly.)

I think it is perfect acceptable to burn people to death, as long as that person is not me.

Sure, todd, but if everyone thinks that then nobody is going to want to get burned to death! Where is your brilliant plan now?
