My flood questions

i know these topics have been well-covered in many places. this is just me wanting to compile a list of concise reasons why i am sure the WT interpretation of the Deluge is untenable. this is my first draft. revisions/additions/suggestions?

How could all the world's highest mountain ranges have been built up in the last few thousand years while providing all the evidence to the contrary?

Why do lake varves and ice core samples show no evidence of the Deluge?

How can bristlecone pines and other trees show continuous growth through the period to which the Flood is attributed with no signs of spectacular climate changes?

How did any flora survive underwater for a year, without sunlight, under fantastic pressures? How did such a devastating blow to worldwide ecosystems not leave geological evidence?

How did marine life survive? Different flora and fauna are suited to saltwater, freshwater, coastal areas or deep seas. Most require sunlight and clean water. How could the turbulent mixing of water and debris not kill off entire ecosystems?

Why do genetic trees built with genetic biology not show a severe genetic bottleneck so recently?

Why do so many sites like Egypt, China, Sumer, Indus, America show evidence of continuous human occupation through the time of the Flood?

How did the animals like the South American sloth and Antarctic penguin travel to the ark? How did they sustain themselves living in completely different environments? Why are there no traces of land bridges in geology and no traces of animals indigenous to these other continents in the Middle East?

How did they travel back? How did they get off the mountain? How could the same land bridges have arisen after the flood?

How could a water canopy contain enough water to flood the earth without raising temperature and air pressure to beyond that which could sustain life?

How could such a large wooden structure have withstood the structural stress of the seas without leaking?

How could delicate and evidently ancient structures like the cinder cones at Auvergne or the Great Coral Reef have survived the deluge?

If humanity lived in a small enough area that Noah could have preached to everyone, then why flood the whole planet?

Im gonna tell you what my JW grandmother told me: You think too much.

    This is the watchtower answer.
Jesus said there was a flood.
Since Jesus was Gods son and we know everything he said was right there must have been a flood inspite of any contery evidence.

Of course we carnt use evidence against a flood as evidence that all Jesus said was not right.
    So there.

And there's the WT argument that every nation, tribe, etc. has a flood legend so it must be true.

I agree with Openminded's grandma - Jehovah created the brain to be a radiator for cooling the blood. When you try thinkin' with that thing, all you get is trouble! Numb your skull, cool your blood.

    Moxy,

Along the same lines as one of your questions, here is an addition. Why is there no evidence of all animal life spreading from the Middle East to the rest of the world. We should expect to see fossils of animals radiating out from that area as they repopulated the earth if the flood theory is true.

Also, regarding the bristlecone pine, which lives on top of mountains: If the mountains were formed from the flood, how did the bristlecone pine trees survive the catastrophic geologic movements?

I have also heard that pine trees (which I suppose would include the bristlecone) cannot live with even their roots submerged in salt water, but I haven't verified that.

But the water of the flood wasn't salted water since it was all the water of the rain he he. Maybe that this mysterious god has used some magical trick to preserve the trees or maybe that the theories of the WatchTower is just a load of crap...

    Nicolas,

I think that I heard that pine trees cannot have their roots submerged in water. I might have just added the salt water part.

I agree, the WT is just a load of crap. ;)

    My Flood question is:

Where did all the FRESH WATER fish live while the flood waters covered the Earth?

Only Nathan, in a thread from a few months ago, has tried to provide a possible
    explaination to this problem.

There are further problems with population distributions and how the civilisations could recover so quickly.
