    Hey LL

So how does he get re-elected?

    Good question.

I think the answer would go hand in hand with why the initial impression of most people is favorable.

People are frustrated with crime and want to see someone suffer for it.

Nothing like trying to attack the root causes of crime ... but then it seems the ones with the power usually are the largest contributers to cause.

Too bad there isn't an empty available island on the other side of the world we can ship them off to.

While I hate to find out criminals get things I cannot get, I don't want to abuse them either. I see a big difference between the two. And it saddens me that corruption factors into the deal

He gets re-elected because he's very much "in tune" with the law-abiding, tax-paying, voting, general citizenry. People are absolutely fed up with stuff, and he has struck a nerve for sure, in a good way.

I disagree that there's anything "wrong" with his treatment of inmates. His approach is more about not coddling and not catering to those who are incarcerated then it is to try and be "mean" if you will.

I wish his policies were followed in the county where I live, but that's California, and that "ain't gonna happen"

Here's a link to the Maricopa County, Arizona Sheriff's Dept website and a picture of the good man:

    Lady Lee,

While I hate to find out criminals get things I cannot get, I don't want to abuse them either. I see a big difference between the two.

That about sums it up for me too.

I did work for a man that was a big supporter of Arpaio. There was talk prior to the last gubernatorial race of Arpaio running for governor and this man was all for it.

Then his 19 year old son spent a night in jail for a stupid youthful misdemeanor. --It was amazing how quickly he changed his mind.

I wonder what that stupid youthful misdemeanor was?

Possession of alcohol. (Not actually drinking, although that was certainly the boy's intent.)

Yeah probably a little steep for his crime, if he had been drunk driving I would feel different for sure. They should have just cited him, considering the nature of his crime.
