Two weeks later when they read my steeping down notice, I expected them to say I was stepping down by choice so it would not infer I did it because of wrongdoing. Instead the presiding overseer got up and said "This notice is to inform the Farmers Branch congregation that Donny Reed has been deleted as a ministerial servant". It sounded so cold and uncaring

Thats the kind of stuff that ticks you off...we know what runs through peoples minds "what did he do?"

    Welcome to the Board!

That kind of (non) behavior is a symptom of a dissociative disorder.

What happene at that assembly was horrid. I have noticed in general, a lot of us (ppl of the world) have lost our humanity.

On topic, your comment, and the other topic about the woman who fell ill at the DC, made me think of all the people fainting at political rallies around the country. This was happening a lot, at all the candidate's rallies, because people had been standing for a very long time. I noticed at one event how Obama handled it, he simply quieted down, told everyone what was going on, and stood in silence until the medics could get the person taken care of. I'm sure the other candidates handled it similarly.

Quite a contrast with Jehovahs loving organization.

Good point and great illustration. The message is more important than the messengers, y'know!

    Hope the person is OK.

When I submitted my resignation from being an elder the body of elders worked hard to convince me to stay on and just take a break. NO, I said. I was not in a position to serve any longer and wanted out. Finally they got back and announced it. I was there that night and a witness I'd known for some 11 years came to me afterwards and asked, "Can we still talk to you?" That's when I knew I'd done the right thing. W.Once

I told my JW sister, on the phone this week, that I think the steep rise in gas prices and its effect on the US economy will cause people to draw together and help each other more. My sister told me she did not agree. She said things will get worse and then the Big A will come.

I hope I'm right about people drawing together.

I had an experience at a district convention with my mother that disturbed me much when I was 13. My mother was a Nurses Aid from the time I was a baby until she had to retire early for health reasons at 62. During the afternoon session of the convention a woman ran screaming through the auditorium holding her limp little boy who looked to be about 2. She was screaming for help because her son had stopped breathing. Terror was all over her face as she screamed, literally, for help. People watched from their seats but no one made a move. I felt sick as I looked over at my mother and saw this mixed expression of disinterest and disgust on her face. I was expecting her, of all people, to be the first one up and down the stairs but she just sat there looking annoyed. I asked her if she was going to go help and she shook her head. She rolled her eyes and said, "Babies do that. They stop breathing sometimes. Besides, they'll help her in first aid." My heart sank. I couldn't believe that no one seemed to care that this poor woman needed help. And the disdain that my mother showed was disgusting. I think what little respect I may have had left for her died that day. I asked the next day out of curiosity if she had heard about the baby. She had completely forgotten about it and just shrugged. Heartless whores, every last one of them that sat there snug in their seats. If it's not happening to them, they just don't care.

    Welcome Danny

I have seen similar at the convention I went to last year in Twickenham or believed to seen a person carried out of the stadium on a stretcher and the meeting carried on but at that time I didnt pay much attention cos a friend spoke to me he and I wasnt a JW yet but we were bible students at that time. It was also funny how my friend fell asleep in the afternoon. To that in my opinions I have also heard this does happen in the kingdom hall where the meeting just carries on even though there was paramedics seeing to someone. This person I spoke to was an Ex JW she also told me what happens when a disfellowshipped person goes to the meetings. I think now I looked back at them, they are nothing but uncaring, ungrateful, disrepectful lying gits who are victims to this cult.

It was bad enough I was going that way until 28/10/07 where Emma Gough Refused blood after giving birth to twins died at 23 I think, This put me off and made me leave simply cos I had a brain tumour removed on 7/12/06 and blood transfusions may been used. Im glad I left knowing this, regardless amount of anger developed in me after leaving and being bothered by them basically I had to seek counselling fast or I could end up in a cell for assault.

I am a lot calmer with them now or other religious fanatics, I do often use the word cult a lot with the JW. especially after being bothered by the last, This 1 didnt like word cult lol.

I have told many religious fanatics who speak to me I am either a spirtualist or a Diest (Beliver in god but not in a religion).

If I remember correctly, that's actually policy. They won't disturb the proceedings for any reason, whatsoever. I'm pretty sure if there was a hurricane or an earthquake, the windbag at the podium would still be talking instead of directing people to safety.

The person on the platform could easily have asked everyone to stay at their seats and offer their own silent prayer for the victim.

Yeah, but what if she dies anyway?

It would look like a "spirit-directed" prayer (encouraged from the platform) failed. People might think "hey, maybe Jehovah really isn't listening" or some such "dangerous" thought.
