There's a great feeling of inner peace when you give over your decisions to some 'higher authority'. It's very stressful making your own calls in life for some people, for fear of getting things wrong.
Essentially when you just give up it can make you happy and give you a sense of inner peace. For example, there's no need to be concerned with global warming or a collapse of civilization due to a lack of oil etc because god will just kiss it all better and there's no need to take measures to make the world a better place, just go to meetings and everything will turn out well for you.
