Amber Rose said, "I think somebody needs help covering their territory in a timely manner."

I was thinking the same thing!

If he had gone around looking for an atheist for 3 years, and finally found one, what would that mean???

There was a Down's Syndrome boy

The perfect Jehovahs Witness. No higher education, no independent thinking (not much thinking at all, probably). I`m sure he`ll be on the GB in a few years.

So this guy was raised a Witness, a JW his whole life, a member of a congregation for 50-something years -- where were those people after his mom died, while he was wandering around alone, desperately seeking Witnesses, for 3 freakin years? No one followed up on him, tried to contact him, made any effort at all? Yeah, Jehovah's loving organization sure takes care of its own! Nice.

UGH. I do not feel encouraged LOL

    BIngo!

So, when his mother died, why didn't the congregation take the responsibility for providing the spiritual encouragement? That it took 3 years to find a witness in Florida is unbelievable. It is not like as if this is China.

This story smells like it's at least 50% JW Urban legend. Probably loaded with exaggeration and crucial deletions.

I agree with the points about prayer and "where were the JWs", etc.

But, for a moment, let's say the story is 99% true. (And it could be. I'm sure we could all come up with ways to make it plausible.)

If it's true, it's just a sad, semi-heartwarming story. A guy like Richard is one example of someone who most likely would benefit from the JWs. Community, structure, etc. Same for the infirm and elderly who still at least half-way believe it.

3 years!!!!! And he thinks Jehovah answered his prayer! That should just show him that his Jah doesn't care....

I bet people saw him walking toward them everyday and just screamed "NO!!!" before he was able to ask them if they were a JW.

I live in the West Palm area. What are the odds of a Downs Syndrome male living to age 61? What are the odds of finding a Jehovahs Witness in a gated community in West Palm Beach when most of the residents are Jewish and from Brooklyn? Shit no wonder it took him 3 years...probably nobody knew what he was even talking about. Im also thinking if this was not a long term care facility, they would not have tolerated him bothering people every day for three years around that pool. Its not like a U-Store-It where you can just drop off your check once a month and put stuff and leave it unattended. There is no way he was allowed to do this. There is a community down here that is trying to get an 85 year old man to stop running his little electric remote control boat around the lake on the property because it's "disturbing the quietude of the other residents". Nope...aint buyin this story and yes...the congregation knew this sister died and did NOTHING to find out what happened to this man???

Yeah Jehoover REALLY dropped the ball on this one.

It took 3 years for the coincidence to occur. And for Song19's mom (my inlaw), it took 20. I guess most JWs never took a course on probabilities and distributions in university!

Hey, given more time, just about any coincidence can occur! (Pray enough to win the lottery, play everyday and you are bound to win something! Then attribute it to God.) Damn, now I see why some scientists support evolution, but must give BILLIONS of years for it to occur lol!

Gosh so many corrections I don't know where to begin. As a mother of a child with Down syndrome here goes:

It's not Down's syndrome. Dr. Down doesn't own it. It is Down syndrome

Our children HAVE it but it's not who they are. They are NOT Down syndrome kids. They are people who happen to have Down syndrome. I have a daughter. I have a little girl. She happens to have Down syndrome.

A child with Down syndrome would be placed in the care of whomever the parent chose. Obviously the mother chose the person who took her child.

I will be teaching my girl to pray that JW's leave her alone and to never ask for their help. I don't believe one single solitary part of this story.
