Are you now involved in a different religion or structured group?

I have visited a Unitarian church service(really liked it) one time. I thought I would go back, but the following Sunday I started to feel something like what a panic attack might be. I tried again the next Sunday, and it was the same thing. So I decided that organized religion (even one as liberal as the Unitarians) is just not for me - not at this time anyway. PEACE, Rachel

Actually I decided if I ever were to try another religion it would have to be Quaker or Unitarian. So far I haven't felt the need. I like their core values though.

We are a support group that meet without an agenda at a restaurant
    once a month.

    That would be nice!

    But religion? No, never again!

When I left the JWs I thought I was free from rules and belonging to a structured group. Alas, as I became more 'worldly' I realized that I was still part of a structured group Called the UK.

I live in the south of England and belong to a different race to those who occupy the North. But we are still bound together by an ever increasing number of rules and regulations. Most of them are inflicted on us, against our will from Brussels in Europe. Political correctness has encroached on every part of our lives in Western society.

I sometimes think I had more freedom as a witness living in the seventies.

I was an "ethical agnostic" for a long time. I am now passionately Roman Catholic.

I have experienced only two states of existence.

In the first state I was a born-in JW immersed so
deep in that I did not even recognize any other way.
I learned everything I could, followed all the rules and regs,
and expected all others around me to do the same.
What can I say. That's what I was taught and I learned it well.
I was in that world for 25 years.
The first state began to end with the shock and reality that
when I entered the Kingdom Hall panic attacks struck. I was 14
years old. I would go into mental shutdown and again the panic attacks
when I attempted Field Service. I had Temp Pioneered and was a regular
publisher always!! I was 16 years old. I quickly found out that I
knew NOTHING about living a meaningful and productive life.
I married young (to someone years younger than I) and that lasted 18 months.
I was treated without compassion or kindness by "The Elders".
As a matter of fact it was downright evil the way I was treated.
I was publically reprimanded (humiliated). I began the fade.

So began the second state. This state required that I relearn everything.
I had to dismiss all my previous spiritual upbringing and begin again.
I made a lot of mistakes and I did a lot of this correctly as well.
I studied philosophy and gravitated to "Objectivity" . Anything that taught
objective and rational thinking was good for me. It made me the perfect
Capitalist and businessman. I succeeded beyond what I imagined possible.
This state had lasted 25 years.

I have stood before the door of the third state for the past couple of years.
I have recently concluded that if I am to go through that door, it requires
that I re-invigorate my spiritual nature. I've done a lot of reading, joined this forum, and am about ready to make my move.
    More to come.

    Sorry for the long reply.
It just struck me that I should.
