I saw this on another thread so I am sending a copy of this page to my stepdada and my brother who are shunning me...
Thanks for the scan!

When did the JWs start disfellowshipping and does anyone have access to that initial information?
StAnn
Thank you so much Atlantis... And fuck you Watchtower for causing so much pain to those that were disfellowshipped or wait, "excommunicated". Knowing how the BORG operates, undoubtedly will come up with some far fetched new definition trying to make a case that theres a difference between the word excommunicated and disfellowshipping. And based on Genetic fallacy, R/F will eat it up...
StAnn:
Disfellowshipping and Shunning
The Watchtower application of disfellowshipping is one of the more extreme in Christianity and emulates behavioural characteristics common amongst high control groups such as Mormons and Scientologists; with only the Amish imposing this principle with more destructive effects.
It was not until 1952 that the Watchtower introduced disfellowshipping as now practiced and the following review of the scriptural principles involved shows that there is no Biblical justification for this unchristian form of manipulation. http://jwfacts.com/index_files/disfellowship.htm (See the two paragraphs above this heading:---------On jwfacts!) I say, some blueberry muffins are in order for the two above! Six pack perhaps?

Atlantis thanks for the 1952 Watchtower links. Unfortunately when I click on them the links all say Bandwidth Limit Exceeded. Is it just a case of keep trying?
Beginnersmind:
The website is conducting maintenance. Wait a few hours and go back and try again. If that does not work I will put the pages in a "pdf" for you!

This is why they disfellowship instead of excommunicate. Apparently, all they have to do is give it a differen't name to avoid the pagan element. Why not celebrate the birth of Christ on December 25th and give it a name other than Christmas. Not pagan anymore.
Keyser soze:
Yes, your right Keyser! Anything remotely resembling the Catholic church, the Watchtower is going to put a different name or "spin" on it to make it appear "Theocratic." Many doctrines of the Watchtower were actually stolen from the Catholic church!
Bloody-good-show!
Cheers! Atlantis!-
