It is amazing that they even continue to build more kingdom halls that can hold a couple hundred people when in reality there is about zero growth reported and the buildings are mostly empty during the meetings anyway.
EMPTY KINGDOM HALL

I haven't been to a kh in 20 years but heard from an inactive cousin that my home congregation in PA went from over 100 to about 30. But the population in general is decreasing in that area due to the poor economy. What's really interesting is that the young people who move away to better economic areas are leaving the organization in droves. Whether it's the changing doctrines, the blood or df'ing issues or the recent news coverage of the pedophile problem, the Internet is exposing the WTB&TS for what it really is, a corrupt publishing corporation.
I have no idea what's going on in Ohio where I live now, because I have no contact with jws here. However, they've only been to my door once in the almost 6 years that I've lived here. That's got to say something about dwindling jw population and/or door to door activity.

When a JW relocates from a small town to a booming high growth area this usually happens.
He goes from a small town Hall were everyone knows his business to a bigger Hall with a lot of new folks and turnover.
It's easy to get lost in the shuffle. Moving to a bigger, busier Hall is probably the easiest way I know of to start a sucessful fade.
Let the WT numbers surge as they will... over say a 3 to 5 year period you will always see zero growth in a region. The Spanish Halls... I'd have to ask, is that growth from the "feild" tm or just a lot of Spanish folks relocating to a bigger Metro area?

I think there has to be a higher percentage of witnesses here in south florida than anywhere I have ever seen. A few English, but literally hundreds of Spanish congregations.
I believe you are correct. Hialeah, just one municipality of the Miami metropolitan area (my old stomping grounds) had more than 40 Spanish congregations when I left back in 1995. The territories were tiny. As a pioneer I would preach every territory every week.

Welcome to the board bigdebate!
I seen the same thing as others here have posted. Once there were 100 and when I left there were about 60.
I do not see how they keep the hall afloat.

Yes, Burn the Ships ...
That's what I was referring to. Another tri-plex in Hialeah(north Miami area ) my friend said .. just over 60 congregations now and a population of 300,000.
Even in our congregation on the south side of Miami, we often cover the entire territory on Saturday when the CO comes .... except there is the "wink, wink" by the elders to slow down and save some territory for Sunday.

In my KH we have lost a few younger ones.. The two congregations that met at the KH split to form three congregations and there was talk of building a new KH. Judging from current meeting attendance a new KH won’t be necessary and I can logically see taking the three congregations and downsizing to two. There seems o be a lot of despondency among members. We do have people who are being studied with attending the meetings but new baptisms are low. The last circuit assembly with about 1,200 in attendance saw only three people get baptized and two of these were children of JW’s.

I'm not surprized at all. I'm in that age group. I left myself at 23 almost 24. That was almost 10 years ago. I know lots others my age who have left as well. It's alomost like the JW's have lost a whole generation. Look at the ages of a lot of the posters on this board. Tons in their 20's and 30's.
That Pew report a few months ago said that JW's only keep 37% of those born in. The worst out of all the religions in the report. That struck me as just about right.

Welcome!
Well, I hope to add to the statistics because I am not going back. What got me thinking was the Watchtower's NGO status in the UN. The hypocrisy is organization-wide. I got to experience the true colors of some elders and some "brothers" (elders and ministerial servants) that I worked with in a brother-owned business at that time. There was a falling away of a number of young people from our congregation at the time, too. All those things and more combined, and I decided I'd had enough. I felt I was duped and that I had made a grossly uninformed decision to become a JW years ago.
To any lurker who may be studying to be a JW or maybe interested in becoming one, take a good long look past all the love-bombing and do lots of research before you make that decision to get baptized.
Attendance at my KH is down, and one of the elders I had issues with has been deleted as an elder. To that I say in Montgomery Burns fashion: "Excellent!"
