I have know a few JW's that owned or managed business that required capital and skills other than janitorial work.

A couple of them were good to work for.

There were several elders who owned their own companies.

I knew several pioneers who owned cleaning businesses or worked for brothers who owned them.

There were a some brothers who were honest and treated their employees well (including JWs) and paid fair. There were also some who took advantage of the friends and who weren't quite honest.

Just as in the real world, there were good, there were bad.

Several. One owned his own construction business . one his own cleaning business and one was in insurance.

I actually know an elder who was the President of a Bank and the local Chamber of Commerce.

He's son drives a Lexus and is an elder also. Hmmmmmm, that does NOT seem like working all that hard toward the "kingdom"

Yes an Elder who ripped off many a brother...paid minimum wage...would penalize wages if someone made a mistake....he was a huge scumbag and if he gets anal cancer I will "pray" for him, not to suffer too long.

Yes, I do, and have owned and operated my own business for 28 years. I have had "witnesses" work for me and I have had non-jw's work for me. The jw's were useless, always had an excuse for not showing up, always played the" Uh, brother", card with me over everything. The non-jw's were fine.

I have known other jw's that were crooks and scoundrels, including MANY elders that were always trying to take advantage of their own.

Yes our presiding overseer owned a Buick Dealership and sold to everybody in the hall and all the friends in Ohio. Maybe even Brooklyn, I always wondered why they drove Buicks back in the 70's. He probaly sold Buicks to them.

Gabriel Buick and he had the Angel Gabriel playing a harp on the back of his cars.

The about 80 he died.

Then the Zaremba family ran the next congregation over. They built the City of Cleveland and lots of Florida.

If Italians are Mafia and the Mafia run the city one could even make the argument that the JW's ran Cleveland back in the 70's

There were several in my old Hall, they had their own businesses, and employed several of the local Witnesses.

My Hubby at the time, I was in, worked for a PO from a different county.

I don't remember any complaints, my husband's employer always treated him
fairly.
