Most all these national holidays would rather mark "unhappy England day ".... because these celebrations mark independence
from "Mother England " ... India, Australia, USA and to a much lesser degree however Canada . I am grateful daily to England
for our English language and heritage ... especially because I am of English decent anyway !

Canada Day doesn't celebrate "independence." It marks the time in 1867 when Nova Scotia, New Brunswick and the Province of Canada were joined together into a federation. The Province of Canada became the two provinces of Quebec and Ontario. Canada didn't become a fully independent nation until 1982.

I live in Canada too and its a holiday today, Its a gorgeous day, sunny and not to hot. We are going to spend the day by the Pool and relax and have margaritas later this afternoon.
