BTW, does anybody else remember the big piece that Awake! did on Jonestown shortly after the tragedy? It was better than their average quality articles. I still think that their best piece was their massive attack on the movie The Ten Commandments back when it came out in 1956, though. (I'm not old enough to have read this stuff when it was new, but have almost all the bound volumes. Awake! in the '50s was a lot more interesting.)

Yes, Witnessgirl, AWAKE! from the 50s and 60s was far more interesting.
It was an early 60s AWAKE! on persecution - I believe in Liberia - that JWs studying with me left. After reading about what happened at the DC, I was so moved that I took a stand on the neutrality issue by not saluting the flag at school. My parents, not JWs at the time, were horrified and stopped my Bible study with the pioneer couple.
It wasn't till years later that I was free to make the truth my own and Jehovah's heart glad.

Oh CoCo! I absolutely hate "my bad".
I agree with Dan, "Dude" has been in my vocabulary for nigh on 35 years, it's not going anywhere.
As far as "drink the Kool-Aid", that one has a special place in my heart. It applies so perfectly to JW's, if you know the history. It's the history that makes it meaningful.

Not for me. I was 8, and it was my job to bring in the newspaper. The cover was tons of the jonestown dead. It was a shock that still haunts me.

Hi there, beks!
I'm rather fond of dude, too, and rather fancy dudette, though I don't know if it's been accepted into the Grammatical Hall of Shame yet.
My bad I just don't get ...
My stupid?!?!?!?
Thanks for sharing.
