It is a pity that the fine words of Jesus Sermon are not better applied . They talk and yet do not do, reminds me of Jesus words about Pharisees. We all seem agreed that the fabled "love" is sadly lacking an we have seen that in different parts of the world.
p 4] 144,000 mild-tempered anointed ones were to share in Jesus' inheritance of the earth.
Like J Rutherford?
p6] "The merciful" have tender compassion and show kind consideration, even pity, for the disadvantaged.
So why does the WT not do more to encourage time spent in acts of humanity? Because it takes away from the Ministry ! ..I would like to hear the Pioneer explain that her hours were low because she had helped out a sick (non J W) neighbour
p18} Becoming reconciled with a brother was to take precedence over performing an obligation set out in the Law.
Sadly, it is the elders who seem the worst at genuine care for individuals, the "lesser ones" of a congo are often really decent people
Thanks Blondie.....

Hi, Bluesbrother,
Actually, Knorr gave the Bethelites many a chastisement from the breakfast table.
Considering how the COs beat the elders, it is no surprise that they beat the sheep.

Perhaps the best-known statement in that sermon is the one that is often called the Golden Rule. It has to do with how we treat others. "Just as you want men to do to you, do the same way to them," said Jesus. (Luke 6:31) And what good things he did for people! Jesus cured the sick and even raised the dead. Individuals were especially blessed, however, when they accepted the good news he shared with them. (Read Luke 7:20-22.) As Jehovah's Witnesses, we are delighted to engage in similar Kingdom-preaching activity.
As per usual, they completely ignore the part where Jesus did more than just preach at people. While Christians today cannot raise the dead, (and they leave 'curing the sick' to 'worldly' doctors), this article makes absolutely no mention to doing charitable works towards other people. There is no mention of helping the fatherless boy, or looking after orphans and widows, there's no mention of helping the poor------these are all deeds that are supposed to be a large part of being a 'Christian', yet the article only zeros in on the 'preaching' part
If we were to be harsh, we would likely try the patience of others and alienate them from us...........In his Sermon on the Mount, Jesus also said: "Happy are the merciful, since they will be shown mercy." (Matt. 5:7) "The merciful" have tender compassion and show kind consideration, even pity, for the disadvantaged. Jesus miraculously relieved suffering because he "felt pity," or was "moved with pity."
Ah, finally a true statement made by God's Chosen Ones. Yes, I wonder how those who were disfellowshipped for appearing on Dateline, or by reporting sexual abuse to the police would feel if they read such a hypocritical statement. I wonder if Ray Franz, Ed Dunlap, Barbara Anderson or Bill Bowen would view their treatment at the hands of the Organization as "harsh" or "merciful", especially in light of the fact that none of them did anything that the bible would view as grounds for "disfellowshipping". How many on this board have been treated "harsh" by a 3 man kangaroo court for something ridiculous?
However, having Christlike mildness makes us pleasant and spiritually upbuilding members of the congregation. Mildness is part of the fruitage that God's active force produces within us if we 'live and walk by spirit.' (Read Galatians 5:22-25.) Surely we want to be counted among the mild-tempered individuals led by Jehovah's holy spirit!
Yes, it would be great if the Slobbering Body members actually took their own advise. Perhaps if they actually practiced "Christlike mildness" themselves, instead of acting like Hitler on crack cocaine every time one of their bonehead doctrines are exposed, they wouldn't be facing as many problems as they presently are.

Thanks Blondie!
After hearing it played out at the Kingdumb Hall, I came away with two thoughts:
1) There must be tremendous problems keeping the peace among the brothers and sisters, because it was only 2 months ago there were a couple of WT lessens also about getting along.
2) Since the "Kingdom Message(tm)" has such little appeal to attract almost nobody to the JWs, now they're trying to stress good conduct as being a beacon of light to attract unbelievers to the bOrg... yeah, good luck with that one.

It did kind of amaze me that the society and jws do practice the six month shunning but if you look at this article we see it mentioned to show mercy and compassion and be in a forgiving mood all the time never letting petty disputes go unsettled for any length of time .IMO tho I've seen some pretty serious offenses such as elders committing adultery and doing the six month deal where as somebody with a way less offense would have the same .I personally think adultery should be permanent dismissal from the church all together as Jesus pointed out that those doing it are liable to the fiery Gehenna .
