I live in town and have had a few "Critters" also.
We've had a possum, a skunk and the usual rabbits and squirrels.
We also have a ground hog that lives in an old drainage pipe by the road.

Possums are OK as long as they stay outside. If one gets inside your house, you're in for trouble. They'll tear up and chew whatever they can find. And if you corner them, they are vicious and will attack. Their teeth are needle-sharp.
Skunks are trouble inside or out. I recommend tomato juice to get the stink out.
Other than a whitetail deer than ran through our backyard some years back, all I have are the usual birds, squirrels, an occasional hawk, and a few neighborhood cats. -

We have "in town" deer, although have never seen any in my neighborhood. Have seen them around town from time to time. There are three major creeks that run though town and several large undeveloped areas. Bobcats, foxes and wild pigs have been seen within the town limits as well. When we moved here in '84 there was a small prarie dog town on the northside near a park. The city exterminated them, there was a big uproar over that.

I live in Houston. There is no chance anything wild could survive around here. Every Texan man worth his salt has to have a BIG truck.
I had a possum for a pet. Got him when he was tiny and cute. I let him go when he was several months old. That was not in Texas, though.
I am sad that the prairie dogs were killed. Can't we all just get along?

'Canadians are strange fellows. I think I want to get one for a pet. I will love it, feed it, pet it, and call it George.'
We're irresistable north country critters. We don't like being called george, though. Only chimp critters should be called george;)

I enjoy where we live. We have a lot of wildlife here. But, an opossum is a nasty creature. These varmints regurgitate their food like a buzzard and it stinks. But I have seen one as a pet. They fed it dry cat food and it slept in a trash can. Since it was tame and was fed cat food it didn't barf its food. Usually these things eat anything that is dead.
