This is total bull crap and most Witnesses find this confusing and have no clue what they are signing. Maddness! The bible says "pour it on the ground" but using it to take out fractions and make medicine for Brothers is not breaking that law????? Hypocrites! I will donate some blood so brothers don't run out of fractions.

    Mary,

I was discussing this with my JW spouse yesterday and I think I struck a note. When I mentioned that blood fractions were all a component of blood regardless of how small they are. I mentioned a talk given at the KH regarding the leaven. He mentioned baking a cake and putting some dog poop in the cake mix. Then he mentioned just putting a wee tiny bit of dog poop in the mix and mentioned that no matter how little of it you put in it contaminates the whole mix. She just stood there looking down and didn't say anything.

I hope I can get these subtleties thru to her.

Hey Quirky, I've finished the section on "blood" for the project I'm doing. If you think you need it now, send me a PM with your email and I'll send it to you.

How anyone can accept parts of blood (fractions) and say they have abstained from blood is beyond me. What would the WTS say about what I just said? Does anyone here know?

"Can we see you in the back room for a little chat brother?"

Sorry for not making myself more clear. What I meant to ask was, since "Jehovah's Witnesses believe that it is not possible to abstain from blood and accept blood transfusions" how do they go about explaining that it is possible to abstain from blood and accept blood fractions? Anyone know for sure how they explain this? My guess would be that it has to do with not being a "primary component of blood". Would that be how they would explain it? But still, even as the Our Kingdom Ministry said, "Blood fractions are elements from blood...." So I ask: How can anyone accept parts of blood and say they have not taken blood? True, they have not taken WHOLE blood, but they have taken blood just the same because the fractions are part of the blood.

    Welcome Aunt Bee

    You said:

This is one of the strangest things I have ever seen in print, and I read a lot. It reminds me of Jesus' comment to the Pharisees:

"You blind guides, who strain out a gnat, and swallow a camel." -- Matthew 23:24.

You are exactly right. Believe me, when I was a faithful member of the congregation, it was just as strange to me. One either takes blood or does not take it. You can't be a fraction pregnant, you can't be a fraction dead. You either are or you are not, just like you either are taking blood or you are not. Just a little bit of it is still "it."

The irony of this Watchtower doctrine to allow JWs to transfuse (“eat” according to Watchtower theology!) “all fractions derived from any primary component of blood” is that such use of blood is the only way Noah could have safely eaten blood.

It has not occurred to the average JW that the simple act of cooking blood reduces all its “major components” to fractions that, according to Watchtower doctrine, they are allowed to eat (“transfuse” according to Watchtower theology).

    Reference:

Watchtower provided Durable Power of Attorney Document for Jehovah’s Witnesses dated 2001, “I accept all fractions derived from any primary component of blood.

the presumption is that these fractions may not actually "be" blood. But nutrients and proteins "carried" by the blood. Its rediculous.

If my doctor told me to abstain from Beer could I seperate the alcohol out of a beer and consume it? Technically its not beer, its alcohol. BUT - is that what your dr. meant?

Dont get me wrong, I dont agree with the WTS blood policy. I agree with considering the context of words. Just like the Dr. telling you to avoid alcohol, you know you wouldnt drink a beer fraction, but also when the "older men" said to "abstain" from blood, the context clearly would have been from the stand point of the Jewis Law. PAGANS DIDNT HAVE LAWS AGAINST BLOOD. ONLY THE JEWS. - and this began with the circumsision issue and Jews causing shit for Paul when they were trying to impose Jewish laws on christians!
Therefore the jewish law on abstaining from blood was the context in which they were speaking. DONT EAT BLOOD FROM A SLAUGHTERED ANIMAL. GIVE THE DEAD ANIMALS BLOOD BACK TO JEHOVAH AND THE MEAT IS THEN CLEAN TO EAT.

This was means to remind the Jews that they had taken a life that jehovah had created. It was to remind them of the sanctity of life and the giver of it.

Blood transfusions have nothing to do with the taking of life, and you are not eating blood OR unbled meat.

May a person who takes a blood transfusion be disfellowshiped for it?Yes, if it is a deliberate act and there is no repenting over the wrong act and asking of forgiveness of God’s congregation. If it is a first offense and the transgressor sees his error, repents of it and begs forgiveness, he may be put on probation and given careful instruction from the Scriptures on the matter.—P. 64.

well at least your alive and can repent. then your all good!

    My favorite:

CAN JEHOVAH'S WITNESSES TAKE COW BLOOD?

Watchtower Society approves Hemopure for Jehovah's Witnesses

In a truly remarkable development, the Watchtower Society has ruled that a new oxygen carrying solution made from cow's blood can be used by (JWs) Jehovah's Witnesses. This despite the Watchtower Society's purported biblical ban on the storage/use of animal blood. Nonetheless, members may not pre deposit their own blood or even use certain tiny human blood products like platelets that are frequently required during chemotherapy.
