I was out in service during a week day with a car group of sister pioneers...very few brothers went out in the week...we had 6 people and I was the only male...we arrived at our street and the head sister pioneer turned to everyone and said, "OK you 2 start at this end, you 2 start on the other side and work this way and me and bro (myself) will start here...she then got a horrified look on her face and turned to me and said, "If that's ok with you"...I just said, "Sounds good to me"...at that moment I thought how sad she had to defer to my so called headship...

the whole brothers-taking-the-lead thing always seemed a little stupid to me, especially when it's applied to the minute details, like your example of sending the pairs to the doors in FS. as if sisters, just because they're sisters, can't read adresses and/or figure out how to divide a street up. 1800's much.

For me, this was always huge, and I was always nauseated by this...

I remember when I was baptized, as a teenager, and suddenly I was telling a Special Pioneer what to do, and a ton of devoted Reg Pio sisters who literally went out in service every day and had been doing so for decades. I just didnt get it. But what really blew my mind was when there was this fricken 9 year old kid who got baptized and suddenly these women had to differ to this kids "headship" when he led the group and the kid couldnt even make it through the daily text...

Yeah, that is really how God wants it...

This is where logic should take over. In, you know....a logical organization.

    Wow. Just wow.

I remember having a similar feeling when I was leading the group as an MS...and having to tell grown women what to do. I knew my authority over them was in name only, not gravitas or age!

Totally...I was exactly the same way. To be honest, I felt ackward telling them what to do, I know that I didnt deserve to just cause I happened to be male...I certainly hadnt earned anything, and they were clearly more devoted and gave more to the organization then I did...

That made it even worse cause I was always the odd one out, not understanding how it could possibly be appropriate for me, or even worse that kid, to tell them what to do. And everyone else, including the sisters, actually believed that the most powerful being in the universe not only approved but was actually glad over something that pointless and stupid...

I guess it is just another post JW "wow" item...

that's sooooo unrational it's not even funny.. probably the week before, when he wasn't baptized yet, he just tagged along with those same sisters who were then just pulling him along by the ear.

it just makes it really awkward for all.

There are sister more competent and compassionate than many so called "Elders". It's best to encourage the sisters to take the lead. What would Jesus do?

I always liked it when the
    sisters took the initiative and
    the lead...........

    Oh...........
not quite the same thing you
    were referring to

    Oops

I just remember sometimes one of the sisters had to pray for a service group or something with a frickin kleenex on their head b/c they didn't have a proper head covering to use and weren't expecting to have to conduct the service group b/c a brother was supposed to show up. I mean how ridiculous is that?? And everyone just sits there and follows along. A kleenex?? Honestly!

Seriously?! I know the truth (heh heh) is usually stranger than fiction, but was that for real?!
