My impression is that the more "mature" dubs are just as fazed by the proposed change as the comments on this thread . They cannot see why something that was important enough to change your job for , is now just discontinued..If they want to do family study, they surely can already?

The comments attributed to Paul Gillies ring true to me, although I have no other knowledge of them..

Well, W-Once - at least our faithful Governing Body has given us the re-assurance that we don't have to worry about Armageddon until at least January 2009, or else this loving provision would not have enough time to take effect...

"Instead the audience was urged not the second guess the GB, being advised to look at how well the spirit has directed the Org up until now, so therefore it will do so into the future." It sounds like many are starting to question this "new light" with the hindsight of what we all have been told for so long. The Book study is the most important of all the 5 meetings, there WILL be a time when that is all we will have. But I guess that was said due to the fact that, that was most missed meeting! So to a group that is so hell-bent on numbers, just eliminate it! Now the meeting attendance looks much better!

Don't worry about how they are going to fill the extra night. They will make it mandatory field circus night, where missing field circus that night will be as serious as missing a boasting session (and resulting in Brother Hounder stopping at your place).

    HAHAHAHAHA.

No they won't. They have a hard time getting people to go in the ministry on days other than Saturday. As much as the Sunday field service (before or after the meeting) is talked up, hardly anyone does it. It's certainly not mandatory, and neither will Tuesday or Thursday night be.

In the announcement about the change, a family book study night was suggested. But I think most JW's, including elders, will just have another night to do real-life stuff.

We were told for years that the BSG arrangement was to be our life raft when persecution came.

"Why is it so important to have a BSG arrangement and an OVERSEER (not conductor) looking after these small pockets of the flock? Because when the persecution starts you RUN to your BSG!"

The only way I can describe the action the Governing Body took - because, let's remember, the letter came directly from them (not something that happens every day) - is that they went around with a big knife and punctured all of the life rafts.

But 6 months to the week before they did that they instructed us via the Sept 2007 KM QB not to build our own life rafts.

This, for me, was when my eyes were opened.

they have now one problem, they cannot control all book studies around the world and the JW tells about the truth mo easier as in the K.H.

from january 2009 they will control all meetings

    bonne soirée

Yes, of course they will. They will continue to inists that jws and their children suffer death needlessdly by refusing a blood transfustion. They will continue to cover up child sex abuse and domestic violence within their ranks. All the while, families are being destroyed while victims are disfellowshipped and independent thinkers are labled apostate and shunned. I can hardly wait to see what disaster the gb staggers to next.

I've been told that you can count on one thing; constant change. How many other religions have so many changes? Anyone been associated with any major religion; Catholic, Protestant, Jewish, Hindu, Buddist, etc., etc. that changes gathering times, study material or anything else? Once the District Convention of JW used to be SEVEN DAYS!!!!!! The Sunday meeting included a short break between talk and watchtower study; where everyone visited and talked among themselves. Literature at the Book Room had a $ amount assigned to it and you paid for whatever you were getting. Can you imagine anyone wanting to take off 7 days for a Convention NOW? Does anyone have a job? Year round school for your kids? Budget doesn't even include a yearly vacation let alone 7 days at a hotel in a strange city 50-100 miles away. Poor dumb bastards who keep getting jerked around!
