Outaservice...your link was fantastic! It brought back many memories from my childhood. Especially....the song "Kisses sweeter than wine"....
I remember Love Potion number nine, which I didn't see.
Thanks for the memories!

Tower of Power- So Very Hard To Go ( loved the brass section)
Steely Dan- Reelin' In The Years (Elliott Randalls' guitar lead was awsome)
Grand Funk Railroad- Closer To Home (I feel they were too under-rated)
Just for those not familiar with the 70's or what it felt like to get Df'd during the 1975 hysteria.....
This is what it felt and sounded like.....probably no different than today.

The words to follow are:
The sun don't shine
The moon don't move the tides,
to wash me clean
Sun don't shine
The moon don't move the tides,
to wash me clean
Why so unforgiving and why so cold
Been a long time
crossing Bridge of Sighs
Cold wind blows
The Gods look down in anger,
on this poor child
Cold wind blows
And Gods look down in anger,
on this poor child
Why so unforgiving and why so cold
Been a long time
crossing Bridge of Sighs
I started school in 1975 and my brother was WAY into R&B type stuff and I was very impressionable.
Earth Wind & Fire was his favorite and I think back then I must have known every song. Then, we stopped listening to "Shining Star" because it was about astrology. *gasp* I now listen to it every chance I get.

I don't know of any singer that can duplicate this.

Wow, what a trip down memory lane, just about all of these mentioned are bands that I enjoyed listening to. But being a musician (I play guitar and drums), and being in a quasi band when I was younger, the band that I always listened to the most was Rush. Those guys are real musicians and can reproduce live on stage what they do in the studio, in fact, I enjoy the live version of their songs better than the studio version.
Also, who can forget about "Frampton Comes Alive", did anybody NOT have that album, I wore mine out. Van Halen also showed up in the 70's, Eddies guitar solo (Eruption) blew me away.
Also Johnny Winter, he was a little bit of an acquired taste with his unigue playing style, but I really liked his stuff. And I really like Blue Oyster Cult (still do).....
enjoyed ONJ during the 70s - she has aged well too :)

Connie Talbot does a great job on the 70s song Ben; amazing for a 6 year old.
