Less Focus on Doctrine, More Focus on OBEDIENCE.

I went to the convention this past weekend. It was a bit different than most conventions I have gone to (all 26 of them). There was pretty much no doctrine presented at this convention at all. All of the convention focused on obedience to the spirit. In this case, spirit and Watchtower Organization are always interchangeable.

The two books that were released had to do with obedience. Volume 2 of the Young People Ask book (which is really Awake! articles crammed into a small book) and the other book (the name of which I have forgotten) all have everything to do with Jehovah's Witness conduct. If someone remembers the name of the other book, post it. My mind is still unbending from the weekend.

Huge topics are the same as they have been for the past few years with pornography and apostate thinking leading the way.

They go over (again) politics, holidays, rules of marriage, and disfellowshipping in this new publication (regarding disfellowshipping, it seems like people are trying to hang with their disfellowshipped friends and family and WBTS says "that ain't cool"). Apparently these are things that people are finding serious fault with. Other WBTS beliefes are presented again like their stance on blood.

One comment from a speaker caused my brain to bleed. He said (paraphrased):

Don't find fault with Watchtower teaching, just accept it.

    Just accept it.

That is still burning in my ears.

I've heard that from a couple of people.

It appears lately that the Society is becoming more and more cult like. The change in the magazines (one for the believers and a milked down version for outsiders); the change in the bookstudy (loose groups are harder to control - keep em at the hall under the program outlined by the WTS); the heavier counsel on obeying and not questioning and the counsel of avoiding anything "apostate" in order to strike fear in them from daring to talk to those who have chose to left.

The change from announcing "so-and-so has been DFd( or had DAd)" being replaced with "so-and-so is no longer a JW" could also be seen as a move to "protect" the flock. While it may have been a legal move, it also keeps the dubs from wondering why so many people have decided to disassociate themselves. DAing was almost unheard of 20 or more years ago. But as the Internet has grown so has the number of people walking away, many by fading, many more by announcing it. If the dubs kept hearing about people DAing themselves, they'd have to wonder.

The name of the other book released is "Keep yourselves in God's love". A statement made on page 23 par. 20 says "furthermore, do not expect simple,black-and-white rules on matters of conscience". Furthermore on page 216 there is a chart showing what parts of blood are unacceptable and those of which a Christian is to decide. My question is whose conscience made these decisions?

How do the Witness people advocate for a new government and deny they are a political organization? Either they're indifferent to government or they're political. Which is it?

Half of the Watch Tower Corporation's published literature is advocating against legal established governments. What's the deal?

Refusing to vote! Shunning members who choose to work for or serve in the defense industry! I'd say Jehovah's Witnesses are nothing but a separatist anti-establishment political action group, hiding behind a religious facade, desiring to rule the world.

    This literally made me queasy.

And GaryBuss... pretty danged astute observations on the political comments!!!

I'm wondering whether the new members of the GB (all born post-1935 if I'm not mistaken and, therefore, according to the 1996 WT volume I was reading last night, almost certainly not anointed--oh wait but there was New Lightâ„¢ again wasn't there) feel compelled to try to maintain the status quo as much as possible to avoid the appearance of being reformers. The problem is, stagnating while already in a downward spiral isn't likely to make things better.

The new members of the GB have been granted captaincy of a sinking ship. Maintaining the course is hardly an option unless they really want to grind the Org into the ground. Problem is, by all appearances, that's exactly what they plan to do. I'm guessing that it's because they're afraid to do otherwise, as any reform at this point might bring their very anointment into question.

I will find fault with their doctrines. They create problems where none needed to exist, and that is enough. Obedience--bad for self and/or society, and hence it is immoral to obey the Filthful and Disgraceful Slavebugger.

I've been thinking they must have cracked down on associating with df'd people recently.

Isn't there a part in the front or back pages of the new book that tells them not to associate with ones who are disfellowshipped or have left? I saw here on JWD in one of the threads.

To them to question the org. is the same as anarchy and rebellion against jesus himself since the FDS are considered the embodiment of christ on earth. Kinda does remind me of the catholic church saying the same stuff in the middle ages but the WTBTS is not near as tyrannical but still wanting the same type of power .
