...so Manny will be Manny for the Dodgers who also have two other ex-Sox players Derek Lowe and Nomar.

It was a three way deal where the Dodgers get Manny and ship two young players to the Pirates, the Sox give up Hanson and Moss to the Pirates and get Jason Bay.

I'm definitely not a member of "Red Sox nation".

The Sox just dismissed one of the best batters in baseball history. They have a history of getting rid of anyone who they deem falls short of "boy scout" behavior... The list includes Mike Greenwell, Roger Clemens, Mo Vaughan, Johnny Damon, Nomar Garciaparra, and now ManRam.

This will help the Dodgers in the week N.L. West, although they probably still won't go far in the playoffs. They have quite a weak-hitting lineup apart from ManRam.

Manny will be a free agent in a couple months. Baseball writer Mike Lupica says that Manny is likely to be the hometown DH in the new Yankee Stadium next season. If that's true, this will come back to bite Boston.

Anyway, what about the dudes the Pirates got in return? Any of those guys have any potential?

Jason Bay will give you about 30 HRs & 95-100 RBIs per year....but then again, he's probably already peaked as a player, will likely slowly decline as time goes on.

The outfielder Moss from the Sox is legit, he'll be a solid pro at the bat and plate. Hanson is a question, good speed though.
