Because of Iraq - the USA and GB have no real moral authority to condemn- that is why the Russians knew teh ycould get away with it. Watch this space - the Chinese will do their bit in western China and cleanse the Muslims especially if they do terrorism at the Olympic Games

I think it fits in with a larger agenda. What that is I won't say on here, but if anyone remembers the Blitzkrieg of Nazi Germany thru Europe in the 1930s I think history may be repeating itself.....

"Opening strike" is a misnomer and may not be accurate even if it wasn't.
Georgia claims South Ossetia started shelling villages on 8/7. The Georgian strikes were on 8/8.
"Escalation" or "flare up" is more accurate.
