JRR Tolkien . . provided escape from the mind numbing kult when I was a teen ager, i read the trilogy more than 6 times during HS

That would be one for me as well LoB.

My grade seven teacher, Mr. MacDonald, who happened to also be my religion class teacher, (yeah, I got to go to a Catholic school as a JW, weee) who I had very interesting and deep philosophical conversations with.

My children, molded me more into who I am today, than anyone who ever influenced me before their birth. I learn from them daily. (Oops, I guess that's four, lol.)

    1. Brother Lxxxxxs, kiddie TMS instructor. Explained WTS ladder, was patient, encouraged girls, and in the end believed in loyalty to God over the organization.

    2. Mother, lots of ups and downs but love is beyond an organization.

    3. Children, cuz they are the apples of my eye... and such interesting conversationalist to boot!

    1. I had a friend in another state who I didn't see often. I went to visit and his father was so generous and hospitable. He took everyone out and paid for every meal. We played football and some of us didn't have any gear. He took us to the store and bought everything we needed. I'd never seen this kind of generocity before, and I decided if I ever had money myself, that I'd want to be this way.
    2. My high school physics teacher not only taught me physics, but one lesson more important - that a positive attitude is essential in solving problems.
    3. ?

my father.....and mother too......strong work ethic(depression kids), even though they are JW's they did their best for me...loved me even when I walked away from the organization. Words cannot express how I feel about them....

Terrie..my first friend on the "outside"......she loved me no matter what road I chose....that's more than I can say for my own sister.

My high school lit teacher..he would always tell me that I would have an interesting life...he was right!

Wow this is an emotional post!
