Why do we care so much?

WHY DO WE KEEP COMING HERE?
WHY WHEN MANY OF US HAVE LEFT DO WE STILL FEEL DRAWN TO DISCUSS WATCHTOWER ISSUES?
IN THE SCOPE OF THE HOLE WORLD THE ORGANISATION KNOWN AS JEHOVAHS WITNESSES MEANS LITTLE FOR MOST PEOPLE BUT FOR US IT'S STILL A MAJOUR PART OF OUR LIVES.
WE MIGHT EVEN SPEND MORE TIME NOW THINKING AND DISCUSSING IT THAN WE DID AS WITNESSES.
OF COURSE IT STILL EFFECTS US WE WILL NEVER FORGET WHAT HAS HAPPENED TO US.
FOR MANY THE SENSE OF DECEPTION AND DISAPOINTMENT IS GREAT, COUPLED WITH THE FRUSTRATION THAT MANY OF OUR FORMER FRIENDS AND FAMILY JUST DO NOT UNDERSTAND US AND OUR CHOICE TO LEAVE.
WE WOULD LIKE TO SEE AND END TO THIS ROTTEN ORGANISATION AND HOPE THAT WE CAN PLAY AT LEAST A SMALL PART IN THAT.

My family's still in...that why I come here. I also enjoy to share some of my past to people who understand me.

I personally find it amusing to watch others' means of self-justification.

I like coming here. I mostly read because I don't have much time to post. I like knowing that there are others who will understand me when I talk about JW stuff. I have mostly survived intact, but I do have my fears and things that still affect me.

I think all humans need to have people they can turn to who understand them. It makes us feel less alone in the world.

I care so much because I feel a sense of duty. Someone else reached in and pulled me out by my bootstraps, dusted me off, and showed me the world, the real world. I still have friends and family and I am just looking for some way or some word to help them.

I do think about Witness issues more now that I am out, but I know alot more now about Witness issues than I would have ever known while still an active Witness with my lines of information all guarded and sensored by the "unfaithful and indiscreet slave."

I think of it as an exclusive club. I paid the entry fee, like everyone else, and I like to hang out here sometimes. It's mostly the company and humor that I enjoy here - though I do learn new things from time to time. As for the idiot that said we are here to justify ourselves - I love it!!! It's always good to see examples how JWs think (or don't think~).

Presumably, because I made the following comment:

I personally find it amusing to watch others' means of self-justification.
    My Response:

And it's even more lovely to see the idiotic tendancies some ex-JWs/non-JWs display during their 'social intercourse', considering that I am not nor have I ever been a JW.

I'm glad you feel 'special' coming to this "exclusive club" Marilyn, as I am sure it helps you to justify yourself socially.

This site is not the only thing in my life - but the JW cult used to be at the centre of it.

Sometimes I feel angry as I feel they wasted my youth and I come here to help heal my wounds. On good days, like Alamb, I extend my hand to someone else who feels low or who is ready to climb out of the pit.

I did not CHOOSE to be a JW - it was programmed in by my parents. I do, however choose to be here a few times a week.

On a practical level, I am studying Cultural Studies as part of my degree and I'm interested in the way that mass indoctrination can be undone.

So, come on guys, smile. We're on the outside now.

For me, I feel incredilbly angry at the hurt they have caused my family - people that I care about and the years with my father that they took from me.

I may be deluding myself but the site gives me a chance to do something positive? Maybe I will save someone else going through what I have gone through? The odd 'thank you' emai; has already made it more than worthwhile.

If nothing else, it helps me because I get to make so many new friends than understand why I'm so messed up without me having to give an embarassed explanation.

I know it's easy to put-on a 'persona' online and pretend to be what you are not - when posting or in chat. In reality, I'm quite a quiet person and not really very confident around people so this helps me a lot.

The WBTS bastards tried to keep us isolated so we couldn`t say what we have seen and experienced. The internet changed all that. Now we have a free exhange of information between us all. Thanks to Simon and those like him we have a place to talk freely and maybe even change our little piece of the world for the better. The real world is closing in on WBTS and we`ve got the best seats in the house...OUTLAW
