Entering a church for the sake of being a tourist has never been forbidden or "frown upon".. In the worldwide assembly reports from the 50s and 60s, there are several reports from witness groups visiting churches and temples of all sorts. I remember when taking part in a witness-only bus ride to Austria, when visiting a church, some 2/3 entered and enjoyed it, and 1/3 remained outside. both groups respected the other. Having served, I will rate the three locations as follows:
Best Bethel tour location: Brooklyn. Okay, the tour sucks, but at least you are in NYC and will enjoy a beautiful view of the Manhattan skyline from the Prominade. A walking tour of "property Watch Tower Corporation used to own" would be interesting.
Middle: Wallkill. If you go during the week, you can see the pressroom in live action. Grounds are well-groomed. Many wineries nearby for tours and samples. I think they have a higher number of young, attractive, idealistic Bethelites. So, you're likely to get a better looking and enthusiastic guide anyway.
Worst Bethel tour location: Patterson. Nothing like walking down a bunch of sterile hallways viewing displays of what may be going on behind those walls or in other buildings you can't go near. It is so terribly boring that the highlights of the tour are the lobby, the auditorium, and laundry. At least they are a break from listening to bored tour guides talking about wall displays. And the hideous concrete buildings are an eyesore if they are not repainted almost continuously.
Do yourselves a favor and if you want to visit a fantasyland, go to Disneyworld not Beth-hell.

I too find it odd that the WTS would organize a vatican tour. Did they forget that the UN is going to attack it any day now? Oh, wait, I forgot, nobody in JW-land *really* believes that shit. -

If you want to get a place that publishes and has good news, go to a newspaper. Even in this economy and with 2-3 wars going on, they have better news than you will ever find in the WT buildings!
