I still have a big box of bound volumes 1978-2005 in my garage .The plan was to throw away a few at a time so the garbage man wouldn't get a hernia. However they are now so buried in junk I can't even reach them . I remember the blue binders too . haha

If you're up for it, put them on E-Bay. Somebody active JW might pay you for them. Plus, then they'll have less to put in the contribution box. Then again, you might want to dig out and hang onto the 1989 Watchtower volume. It has this memorable quote that many JWs would deny the Watchtower ever said: "Only Jehovah's Witnesses, those of the anointed remnant and the "great crowd," as a united organization under the protection of the Supreme Organizer, have any Scriptural hope of surviving the impending end of this doomed system dominated by Satan the Devil." 1989 Watchtower, Sept. 1, Pg 19, Paragraph 7. As for the current bound volumes, I will gladly be receiving one of each at the local K Hall in spite of also getting WT Library on CD-ROM. I will carefully estimate their current retail price, mmmm, say $30.00 total. Then I will take that $30.00 to a local eating establishment and do my best to help keep Satan's old system puttering along. om

"I'm sure this is just the WTS going "green" and saving millions of tons of paper.. "

How politically correct of them! *snicker*

Make sure you keep the 1950 Bound Volume:

Jehovah’s visible organization can use you, but can get along without you too. But you cannot get along without it. Fruitless ones are eventually pruned off and never missed as new ones are grafted in.

Some of these quotes are unbelievable! Hair Raising I wouldn't believe it except it's right there on the CD-ROM!

I wouldn't even bother using them. I got a computer with the CD-ROMs back in 2001, and only needed a monitor to use it. It sat there for 5 years. And then I got this computer and went online, checked the apostate sites, and decided that I didn't need them after all. The CD-ROMs are polluting the landfill, just as the original books are.

Of course, it would make it easier for them to "edit" the bounds on the CD versions. That way, they could tell people that they never said the originals. So much for the truth.

I recently re-cycled all the bounds volumes that we had, going back to the early 1950's, which I had inherited from my father-in-law. The problem with the bound volumes is that they take up so much space, even in the attic, and they are used on occasionally, even when I was an active witness preparing public talks, meeting parts, etc. The CD is much more convenient, though on the downside, they are only text based and have no pictures.

Drop them off some night at a kingdumb hall and let the witlesses deal with them. It's funny when they get a load of crap like that, they don't know what to do. They worship them yet they have no use for them so there's usually a big conundrum when they get that crap.

Re the discouragement to have the bound volumes...the lit Servant gave us a hard time last year when we wanted both volumes and a c/d. I dont know if that was official or whether he was just "zealous" ..but we had to insist...Then he screwed up the order and we got 2 sets of volumes !

Re the Blue Binders? I think they still do them. The last ones I saw were plastic boxes - brown to match the volumes..

My biggest regret was discarding the original indexes that were produced. They had a lot more refs than the bound multi-year ones that followed , and they have more refs than the c/d...

Jehovah's Witnesses use the bound volumes much in the same way the Jews use the Tulmud. They are "commentaries" on the Bible which are readily referred to by elders and others. In recent years, though, some of the articles have become an embarrassment to the Watchtower Society since they expose the ever changing doctrines of the organization. It's another example that demonstrates the lack of faith it has in the Bible itself and in the intelligence of their members to discern the truth from the original source.
