Many people flee to the WBTS because of all of the negativity in the world, perceived or real. "The world is going to hell in a handbasket" is the general belief of most Witnesses, especially those who are of middle to low income and have to deal with the unpleasantness of things a little bit more than the well-to-do Witnesses who may have their paradise right now.
Anyway, something spurred me to check statistics. It's no secret to anyone that crime in the United States exploded after drugs came on the scene, specifically cocaine and later crack. The eighties and nineties were horror stories.
However, many crimes are on the decline. What is more shocking than I might have guessed, though, is that the murder rate is dropping and is almost as low now as it was in 1960 (as of 2006).
