Looks like Saturday afternoon is designed to beat the spirit out of the teens. Technology scares these people to death.

I wonder if they will take notes with rocks and chisels in the New Order?

I sometimes get the feeling that "education" has practically taken the place of "premarital sex" as the thrashing stick for JW teenagers.

In my day (1960s,1970s) you seldom heard public denouncement of education. Occasionally it would come up in the Awake or KM, usually saying "young people could better spend their time pioneering".

But we were constantly bombarded with graphic skits, public talks, illustrative dramas, etc...all on the subject of forbidden sex!!!

I knew a lot of rather influential witnesses who were embarassed by it all, and who even expressed the idea that "what could these old batchelor geezers up there in New York know about these issues, anyway?" Some of the then-current GB were notorious for going off on this subject.

I wonder if now we have a sort of a new breed of GB who are positively freaking out of their minds on internet, conventional college, and any other forms of higher education? They do seem to have had a real fixation on this for the past 2 or 3 years.

I'm wondering if it is becoming some sort of "litmus test" on the "spirituality" of young adults.

Currently, hours in field service is the litmus test for being appointed as a ministerial servant or elder. You can meet all the scriptural qualifications to the utmost degree, but if you don't get your 10 hours per month, you just ain't gonna be appointed.

The Society seems to like easily verifiable objective measures like that - reduces the need for elder bodies to think (many are incapable of it anyway...but I digress).

Perhaps in the near future, for MS or elder appointments, "chose to pioneer instead of going to college" will join the "10 hour rule" as an unwritten qualification to be appointed?

Though I don't go to any congregations meetings (ever), I do attend the assemblies out of respect for my wife who I know would feel uncomfortable having to be there on her own.

I must say I am not looking forward to this program - do they still say; "this was the best assembly ever"?

The Watchtower has finally flipped out!

No doubt about it, the organization is insane.

TRUTHSEEKER- Thanks for printing this. Jesus holy mother fing Christ of God !! How do you spell COMPLETE MIND CONTROL ?? Wow !! From those titles, especially the titles of the symposium on Saturdays session- it appears the total control of the rank and file members is being clamped down even harder than in the past ! Let's see, if Satan is controlling your recreation , your education, your entertainment, and even what you do for a job - I guess if you are a JW there is not much you can do to escape the clutches of Satan other than when you are sleeping ! My god . This is " cult mind control" at it's very worst. I pity these people in how they are being duped and controlled by the Watchtower society. And then the symposium on Sunday ? POWER ! POWER ! POWER ! What the hell is THAT all about ? Talk about using " catch phrases " and gimmicks to get these people under the societies control - my god , my god, my god. I'm speechless

So if I found a needlepoint pentagram stuck on a router would that be a crafty act of Satan?

Maybe just an act of craft.
