JW Mother-In-Law encourages my wife to "stay strong"

Just found a letter from my mother-in-law to my wife about my disassociating from "the truth" and how she is so proud of her to stick with Jehovah's organization and quoted this scripture:

    Matthew 7:21

Not everyone who says to Me, "Lord, Lord," shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven.

Funny thing is she didn't bother sharing the rest of the scripture ...

    Matthew 7:22-23

22 Many will say to Me in that day, "Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?"
23 And then I will declare to them, "I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness."

How nice disrespectful of MIL to budge in and cast you, her daughter's husband, as the lawless enemy.

And they say JW's don't break up families. Well they sure try, don't they?

    Hang in there.

Now let us all remember that such letters are based out of her mother's fear.

I mean how many JWs actually read the bible beyond scanning WTS lessons?

When the WTS starts to lose members, those leaving are evil, and those remaining are put on a diet of hype....oh and Armageddon is so near!

That's right. Much, maybe most hatred is based on ignorance and/or fear.

"How nice disrespectful of MIL to budge in and cast you, her daughter's husband, as the lawless enemy".

That's exactly what she's doing Gopher... and as much as I may disagree with Saltcon, I know he seems like a good man, not one a mother in law shouldn't be proud of....

You hang in there salty my brother... we got your backside...

Okay, I hate to say this, because it embarrasses me and makes me sad... but... wouldn't we (HAVEN'T WE) all said those same things to "encourage" fellow dubs when we were in? Oh, man, I just got the shivers and a bad taste in my mouth. I remember one long letter I wrote, "encouraging" a friend of mine...

No doubt about it, Sacolton, it sucks.

    Love,
    Baba.
