"Jehovah has decided to ax the Book Study."
When 1975 went by like a fart in a whirlwind.
In MY experience -- do you mean during my lifetime?
Probably the announcement in the mid-60's that this system had until approximately 1975, and then Jehovah would usher in the Kingdom. The sense of urgency changed things organizationally, reset life goals for a lot of people. For me I still thought the 'end was near' for many years after 1975, causing me to make many poor decisions.
Actually every jw I have encountered has been so happy to see the financial fall of the US..........the end is near..........right?
In my experience (1982-2005), it was the generation change. No more "the 1914 generation is getting old so the end must be right around the corner."
Blondie, really?? They've said that???
The Governing Body writing to all the congregations to tell them "No book study groups in private homes for you".
I think ""1975." We had a date!
The generation change in 1995 to many was big, but not all.
And yes, there is a godforsaken email going around about the financial disaster and impending doom, and "hang on, we're almost there! I couldn't stomach it.
The bookstudy thing was not that big a deal to me. Just another example of "getting ready for The End".
