When a JW dies, from results of an accident, disease, or especially, complications resulting from "old age", what do you suppose their last thoughts are? Would they think they have wasted their lives waiting for something which never did and never will come? Or do they really expect to close their eyes and open them in a paradise?

Die-hards (no pun intended) believe they have fought the fine fight - and won.
I just went to JW memorial service on Saturday. Confirmed that the deceased was absolutely confident of her hope of a resurrection to paradise earth. Family told of her dying words for them to remain faithful, too.
My brother told me a story about 2 years ago. My uber-witness mother sat by and watched a witness friend of hers die. The friend actually did begin to wonder if the paradise hope was real. Looking to my mom for reassurance, she got it. Sad, though. What a time to question your beliefs. Nothing you can do at that point except hope for the good to come.
I sure wouldn't tell someone that close to death that they are putting faith in a lie.
Of course, I've become much more of a 'live and let live person'. If a person is not happy with their beliefs and/or asks me about mine, I will share but I don't go out of my way to change anyone's belief. I may challenge it. But don't push to change it.

This the distilled essence of religion. At the moment before a person dies their last thoughts are probably consistent with the beliefs about the afterlife they have held when in good health. At the moment after they die...........................?.......... all bets are off cause nobody knows nothin' .

Well, when I was still JW, I was in a couple of car wrecks, and thought I was going to die. The last thing that passed through my mind was that maybe if I went as limp as I could, it wouldn't hurt so much when we landed.Oh, and an expletive.
