Well since they seem to have insider info on the markets....maybe they should be held responsible for coughing up some of the bail out cash.

Can anyone say, "Savings and Loan Crisis of the 80's?" Old news, JWs. Get over it.
spot on.
Just think about this logically. Anybody can pick one of the worlds majors institutions and say that some day somewhere, somehow, it is going to crash. Big deal. That article is generic and gives no specific details whatsoever that are relevant to todays issues. It only would work on people ignorant about economic issues, aka JWs. -

I posted this on easyreader's thread, too...
Watch Tower Corporation has never prophecied a total economic collapse before the "great tribulation", particularly in relation to Ezekiel 7:19. Even in the quote above from the 1980 Asleep! magazine, it fortells that 'the Bible speaks of a "great tribulation...." During that time, paper money will be worthless.' So, has the Great Tribulation already begun? Uh, nope.
The earth-shattering final warning to wicked mankind called the Keep on the Watch! brochure of 2004 (now no longer being printed), doesn't even refer to the scripture Ezekiel 7:19, or to the idea of a credit crisis to rock the world in 2008. Here's some older ones:
*** it-1 p. 594 Day of Jehovah ***
This day is detailed in the Scriptures as a time of battle, a great and fear-inspiring day of darkness and burning anger, a day of fury, distress, anguish, desolation, and alarm. "What, then, will the day of Jehovah mean to you people?" God asked wayward Israel by the mouth of his prophet Amos. This: "It will be darkness, and no light, just as when a man flees because of the lion, and the bear actually meets him; and as when he went into the house and supported his hand against the wall, and the serpent bit him." (Am 5:18-20) Isaiah was told: "Look! The day of Jehovah itself is coming, cruel both with fury and with burning anger." (Isa 13:9) "That day is a day of fury, a day of distress and of anguish, a day of storm and of desolation, a day of darkness and of gloominess, a day of clouds and of thick gloom." (Zep 1:15) During such a time of trouble, one’s money is absolutely worthless. "Into the streets they will throw their very silver . . . Neither their silver nor their gold will be able to deliver them in the day of Jehovah’s fury."—Eze 7:19; Zep 1:18.*** g74 1/22 p. 8 Where Is Your Money Heading? ***When the "great tribulation" strikes, even the most stable of the world’s monetary systems will be unable to buy protection. The situation will then parallel that of the inhabitants of Judah and Jerusalem in the seventh century B.C.E. Regarding them, the prophet Ezekiel foretold:
"Into the streets they will throw their very silver, and an abhorrent thing their own gold will become. Neither their silver nor their gold will be able to deliver them in the day of Jehovah’s fury."—Ezek. 7:19.
So the danger in which we find ourselves today is far graver than the collapse of all national currencies. Bible prophecy clearly establishes that the generation now living faces an unequaled "great tribulation," at which time only an approved standing with God will be of any real value. (Matt. 24:34) People everywhere should therefore think seriously about what they can do to survive that destruction. Are you endeavoring to build up a record of fine works with the Creator so that you may be among those hidden in the day of his fury? So, if any dubs say that the current credit crisis fulfills what Watch Tower Corporation has been foretelling, they must mean that the Great Tribulation is already well underway, and the King of the North has acted with the UN and all the nations of the Earth to destroy Babylon the Great... invisibly, of course.

It's pretty easy to "predict" that there will be a major economic downturn sometime in the future.
I predict that there will be forest fires somewhere in California in the next 28 years.
Look at me! I'm a freakin' prophet, too!

What will soon happen, then, is similar to what a Japanese businessman answered ............
............... For instance, American financial commentator Sylvia Porter spoke of the real possibility
The columnist added:
Political commentator Jack Anderson similarly commented on the shaky money situation, stating:
The American Institute for Economic Research makes the following observations:
Who predicted? Oh ya, the Awake predicted! Of course. They quoted other peoples research and they predicted it!
Well Rutherford predicted Hitler would take over the world and spur Armagedon in the 40's and that children would never have a career or grow old. Franz predicted 1975. Where are the emails floating around quoting that?
What a bunch of retards.....

During the next several years, the following economic developments seem highly probable:
When did Awake quote that? 1980..that is 28 years ago. Since then we have been through the recession of the 90's and come out the other side .
These things happen . It will happen again in the future too.

"Greedy Commerce" will bemoan the fall of Babylon the Grape.
So, per WT logic, "Greedy Commerce" is still in pretty good shape.
